15. What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers within the Constitution?

Our founders came to America to escape domination of the individual by an authoritative power. The people had no representation in the process that established the rules that governed their lives. As a consequence, they took extreme care to establish a government system with checks and balances where any one element of governance would not have the power or authority to create a supreme rule over the people. Freedom is a natural element in the fabric of mankind.

16. Briefly list three (3) political or legislative issues of most concern to you, and explain why each is important to you.

First: The security of our country, our values and our way of life is my first concern. Our country is in Big Trouble and our security is in extreme peril with our open border and the proclaimed intent by terrorists to attack us and our way of life. Second is Immigration: We are a country of immigrants, yet our rules, regulations, policies, and oversight of the process is extremely broken. The result is unwarranted hardships on families who “follow the rules”, and a permissiveness or “forgiveness” afforded to many who break or ignore the rules. Third is taxation: I promote changing our corporate tax rate (the highest in the industrial world) from 35% to 20%. This would help (1) keep corporate tax money in the U.S. (2) help to bring back corporate tax money, and help keep jobs in the U.S. and promote the creation of more jobs in the U.S.. I believe that with a federal tax reduction, coupled with the Orlando favorable tax structure, our area would attract more jobs.

17. Should abortion be allowed under extenuating circumstances? If so, what circumstances?

I am against the practice of abortions except in extenuating circumstances. These circumstances include rape, incest, and the bone fide, physical threat to a woman’s life. I also believe that the physical threat to a woman’s life must be actual and documented by proper medical testimony.

18. Based on the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution, please arrange the following entities, starting with the highest source of authority, and continue the list in descending order of authority, skipping any that do not apply: Academia, Congress, Constitution, God, Industry, Media, Professional Sports, Supreme Court, Voters.

1) Constitution, 2) Supreme Court, 3) Congress. I have tried to answer this based on “source” documents and not secondary considerations, which are derived from the sources.

19. Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I believe in God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit and an “eternal life”, as articulated in the Nicene Creed. I also believe that the essence of Christ has been revealed to other cultures in different ways, but that the foundational belief and essence remains the same. Among these spiritual beliefs and values include the moral and human, foundational nature of the goodness of man. I also believe that those who do not practice the values they publically acknowledge do not truly embrace them within. When man commits depravity and atrocity upon another while extolling virtues of his/her God, the publically spoken values are a lie. And, when one besmirches another, either through outright lies, or veiled falsehoods, again the publically spoken values are a deception to the person’s true character. While we are not perfect, nor can we be, we can strive to be the best we can using our foundational value system, which in my case is Christianity.
