OTHER INFORMATION

QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Agree

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.

Strongly Agree

I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.

Strongly Agree

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

I do not believe there are any circumstances where elective abortions should be allowed. There are circumstances where a doctor has determined that it is the only option to the saving of the mother's life. We must be understanding of this while also not creating a loophole for elective abortions allowing some to exploit tragedy to further create tragedy.

ECONOMY

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.

Disagree

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

In Columbus, we need to start by doing a fair accounting of what our actual budget is and make sure we aren't bypassing the statutory caps on spending that currently exist. Then we need to, when in doubt, let localities handle the issues instead of Columbus.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Strongly Agree

Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.

Strongly Agree

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

Strongly Agree

I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.

Yes

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

In the sense you are referring to a wall of separation, it means that the church is protected from state interference not the other way around. We are a diverse people of many faiths and we all have the right to have our faith and conscience lived out and represented in our government.

HEALTHCARE

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.

Disagree

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

We need to start working towards a free market healthcare system. There is a reason that two parts of our medical economy, laser eye surgery and cosmetic surgery have increased in quality and consistently decreased in price. It is because they are outside out insurance system now. We need to start realizing that medical care is not exempt from economic principles and government intervention makes the problem worse. This is a hard task but one that needs pursued.

NATIONAL SECURITY

The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.

Agree

IMMIGRATION

I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

Agree

State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.

Agree

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

Those who go through our immigration process and are wanting to add value to our society. It could be the shop keeper, it could be the research assistant, it could be dreamer with big ideas, it could simply be a father and mother wanting to give their children a better way of life. There is no need to be too strictly utilitarian but we do need to know who is here.

EDUCATION

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Disagree

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Strongly Agree

I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.

Disagree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a Christian. I am a flawed man in need of a Savior because I simply cannot achieve the redemptive power of Salvation on my own. I believe that all humans are fallen and in need of a Savior.

ABOUT YOU

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Very Conservative

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

My website has my policy positions and my record as a Councilman and candidate reflect those values.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

I am the only one in my race with legislative experience. I have experience working with fellow legislators to get things done for the entire community. This takes a relational work ethic that I have proven effective in getting things done.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

I am an Army Veteran and am proud of my service to this country both overseas and here at home. Mandi and I have seven amazing kids and we would be honored by your support and vote.

JUDICIAL PHILOSOPHY

I support the use of Sharia law as a basis for legislation and judicial decisions in the United States.

Disagree

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.

Disagree

2ND AMENDMENT

Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?

Yes

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

None. We do need to do a better job of following existing protocols and regulations before we look towards new ones. And anything we look at has to actually fix the problem we are trying to fix.

OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Disagree

I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.

Disagree

The Electoral College should be abolished.

Strongly Disagree

In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?

Governance reform Education reform Tax reform

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

Yes. Anytime we look at other human beings as having less than the worth God gave them it effects our other decisions and interactions. Our community and tranquility is built on a viewing other humans in our community with dignity. When that breaks down, other parts break down as well.
