QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Agree

Chemical abortion drugs should meet essential safety standards (such as in-person consultation with a medical doctor) and require reporting to gather evidence on reactions and outcomes.

Strongly Agree

Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?

None. It is not the baby's fault. I have a dear friend who really struggled when he learned he was the product of a rape, and his mother pointed out that at least something good had come out of that terrible situation.

Does the federal government have a role to play in limiting abortion, and if so what federal steps and/or federal legislation would you support?

Congress can set a baseline of protection that can be exceeded for protective purposes by the states.

ECONOMY

What actions would you take that would allow Americans to retain more of their income and wealth?

I have committed not to raise taxes. With a 40% deficit and exploding debt issue, we need to curb spending dramatically. Due to limited space: consider the old school process of Newt: block grant programs based on 10th Amendment back to states.

Student loan forgiveness unfairly shifts the financial burden to those not responsible for student debt.

Strongly Agree

Should environmental and social issues, like ESG (environmental, social, and governance) ratings, be used as criteria in deciding where to invest public monies?

No

ESG is beginning to fall out of corporate favor, but not fast enough as it has Marxist roots and goals.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

Having worked for CCV and with FRC & ADF, this is an important issue. The state cannot pick religions to support OR oppose. Strict scrutiny must be the standard whenever the government addresses ANY infringement of religious freedoms. RFs are public lifestyle not limited to four walls of a worship center. I have supported numerous school and government staff expressions of faith, such as praying before meetings or on fields before games. Separation does not mean banishment!

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Strongly Disagree

Having worked with the teams on the issues of the various bakers and wedding planners, this issue is paramount.

HEALTHCARE

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

Your health and your children's is the responsibility of the parent and for those of age, themselves. I am opposed to mandated vaccinations.

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.

I most closely align with C, in that I have been a Medicaid/care guardian for an elderly lady at our church and while she worked her whole life, without those services she would have been in very bad shape. The same can be said for an autistic child who's meds are beyond the cost of any small group to cover. However, there needs to be a re-alignment of costs and incentives as an Oregon study shows. The programs need to be restricted and re-aligned.

NATIONAL SECURITY

With regard to America's foreign policy, which view most closely resembles yours: A) The United States should intervene whenever freedom is threatened. B) The United States should selectively help countries trying to grow democracy and fight tyranny. C) The United States has become too involved in others' policies and should remain focused on issues regarding our own sovereignty unless in imminent danger. D) The United States should stay out of foreign conflicts completely.

The world has changed since the Bretton Woods agreement and the US needs to closely define US Interests, especially in light of budget restrictions and a legacy of never-ending wars. I may not be fully in the "C" camp, but our allies, our interests and our exit need to be defined BEFORE engaging in any activities.

The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.

Strongly Agree

While they are distinct threat, their own system and financial misfeasance may take them down in civil war before they strike at our allies. In the meantime, they continue to steal technology, threaten US businesses and implement massive cyber devastation.

Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?

Yes. As one our few allies who have a democratically elected republic in the Mideast, they are a western-minded buffer. Additionally, there is a historic and Biblical tradition of support that is appropriate.

What are the causes of decline in U.S. military recruitment and retention?

Internally, the anti-Christian woke agenda combined with a mandated DEI program has eroded the internal meritocracy while the support of political agendas rather then competency and readiness have driven down morale. Externally the anti-US Exceptionalism and hysterical labeling of the US as an empire builder has eroded support as well.

IMMIGRATION

The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.

Strongly Agree

A wall is but one facet of a multi-dimensional, technologically engaged barrier to all illegal entrants.

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

The US system needs an overhaul: consider that people are willing to deal with coyotes and cartels rather than go through US immigration services. They risk life, limb, indentured servitude, and systemic rape to avoid dealing with US Immigration - this needs to change. We used to have basic standards requiring health, lack of criminality, and a job sponsor for immigrants. We need to review that process, because the illegal situation will get worse as the world destabilizes.

EDUCATION

I support school choice, including voucher programs, tax credits, charter schools, private schools, and home schools.

Strongly Agree

The money should follow the children.

I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.

Strongly Agree

The feds only provide 8% of the funds and the vast majority of the mandates, the funds should be provided in a block grant back to the states and shut down the department.

VALUES

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.

Strongly Agree

Children are the most vulnerable members of society and must be protected from abuse, including gender ideology, grooming, and bodily mutilation.

Strongly Agree

Long time supporter of what is now HB 68 in Ohio.

Taxpayer funds should be used to provide gender transition services.

Strongly Disagree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

As an Elder, this could be very long, and as my sermons are online (http://pleasantridgebaptist.net/sermons), let me sum it up with this: Biblically-based Christian values that focus on Christ as the Son of God, and His redemptive process as Revealed, for our salvation. Here is a link to our Values, Constitution and Member Covenant: http://pleasantridgebaptist.net/about

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

State issued and verified photo ID.

The Electoral College should be abolished.

Strongly Disagree

Much like the split between House and Senate, the Electoral College is part of a Check & Balance to offset the "tyranny of the majority."

EQUALITY

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Strongly Disagree

CRT should be rooted out of every US institution ( education, higher education, military, bureaucracy, etc.) and called out for the Marxist poison that it is.

Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.

Strongly Agree

In OH HB 68 is a good step forward. The science around XX and XY chromosomes is actually settled!

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Man-made climate change is a global threat and requires urgent political action.

Strongly Disagree

It is a erroneous theory and a false flag.

What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?

The second phase of the shale revolution is starting and is providing a combined gas and oil surplus to the US, aided by clean US coal (as compared to German lignite or Chinese Bituminous coal). Oil is essential for the economy!

ABOUT YOU

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Conservative

Titles are tossed around and used pejoratively to dismiss or mock sound perspectives and values. The "conservative" perspective is actually quite mainstream but is often cowed in to being quiet by the mockers, and in that sense, I am quite normal in my Midwestern Christian values. We need to support and teach people how to articulate these values.

What do you think is the general purpose of government?

Constitutionally, the government is there to protect Life, Liberty and the pursuit of happiness. It does so recognizing the innate sinfulness of man by using checks & balances in many ways - and this is good because power corrupts. The more local the government can be the better it serves.

Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.

No.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.

No.

JUDICIAL PHILOSOPHY

The Supreme Court should be reformed to include more seats.

Strongly Disagree

Packing the court is a progressive effort threatened back even by Roosevelt as a way to overcome the critical checks and balances on power.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

I support redirecting funds from police departments to community programs.

Strongly Disagree

Having worked closely with local police departments, officers should be respected and that teaching should be in homes by parents and amplified by schools and governments. Even then, training and ongoing education are critical. Our Chief once relayed the absolute benefit to his officers in learning about drug rehab and how to best deal with people who are (typically) having their worst day - humanizing them and getting help. Officer training and support is critical. More officers are needed.

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

As a CCW and FFL, and father of children trained in gun usage, safety is a critical component of training. I support the 2nd amendment as is. And having said that, encourage people to take training, carry and practice regularly!
