14. What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers within the Constitution?
There will always be someone, somewhere, that wishes to usurp as much power as possible, and having just fought to separate from a tyrannical government, the Founders found it best to develop a system in which the federal government was not only restrained by the three branches that it encompasses, but also the individual states and the general public, as well.

15. Briefly list three (3) political or legislative issues of most concern to you, and explain why each is important to you.
1) Abolishing the income tax, repealing the 16th Amendment, and abolishing the IRS: Philosophically, very few things are as immoral as an entity laying claim to a large portion of your income before you even see it, and without your permission. It's the antithesis of liberty. Consequentially, income taxes, corporate taxes, et al, restrict our economy. The tax system must be voluntary, it must not be used for political gain or in a punitive fashion, and it must not be a barrier to economic growth that benefits everyone. 2) Auditing the Federal Reserve: The entity that controls the value of our money, the price of our homes or goods, directs our economy, and contributes to our national debt (and is terrible at all of that), needs total oversight and transparency, or it needs abolished. We must know what it is doing, what it has done, and we must use the information gained to plan a new course. 3) Ending the open-ended 2001 and 2002 Authorizations to Use Military Force.

16. Should abortion be allowed under extenuating circumstances? If so, what circumstances?
Certainly. When the mother's life is in immediate danger, an exception may be appropriate. Ultimately, the issue is heavily debated by both sides of the issue (with many legitimate points presented by both sides), necessitating a deferral to the individual states for a decision. The federal government will not be able to effectively address the issue.

18. Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I regularly attend Church with my family, and my kids not only attend an extracurricular Bible study on Wednesdays, but are also homeschooled in a curriculum rooted in classical Christian teachings. With that said, the religious beliefs held by myself and my family were our decisions as free individuals to make, and will have no weight on my legislative positions. Just as the government must refrain from picking winners and losers in business, so to should it refrain from picking winners and losers in religion. In a truly free society, individuals make those personal decisions for themselves.
