Of course abortion should be allowed under some circumstances. A civilized society does not condemn an innocent woman to a terrible death in the service of someone's superstition. This is an area where compromise must be accepted. Both of the extreme positions become irrational when applied to the facts of individual cases. I believe the Roe v. Wade decision or something very much like it is in the spirit of that compromise.

I would bar government from involving itself in anyone's religion, creed, tenet or way of life so long as it is not injurious to others. We do a pretty good job of that now with our constitutional law. I would take it further. My basic concept of government is that of John Stuart Mill when he said that your right to swing your fist ends only where my neighbor's nose begins.
