How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

I believe that access to healthcare is a right and not a privilege and I’ll work to ensure affordable healthcare for all. In the current environment, medical costs have the power to devastate personal finances and too often lead to bankruptcy or lost access to needed care. I will seek solutions to reduce the overall cost of healthcare. I will also work to ensure that all of our citizens are provided with the opportunity to have the care necessary to both maintain good health and provide access to necessary medical treatment.

What role should government play in boosting the economy?

What changes should be made to the tax code?

Another issue that is high on my agenda is the growing level of income inequality in our country. I will work hard to ensure that our middle class and our poor have a strong representative at the table advocating on their behalf. Corporate interests have overwhelmed the system and I will work to ensure that the people are represented and are at the heart of every consideration.

What is the best way to bring down unemployment?

Economic development and education are the cornerstones to gainful employment in our community.

How would you guarantee Social Security benefits for future generations?

Congress must work together to ensure that Social Security funds remain available for this and future generations. I support continued funding for Social Security and Medicare. These important benefits are vital to the lives of seniors and many other citizens. Citizens have paid into these funds and they should never be stripped of those benefits.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

I hold a Master's Degree in Public Administration and a Bachelor of Science Degree. I'm an experienced legislator, having served 6 terms in the SC House of Representatives. Re-elected to the SC House 5 times, I am grateful for the confidence of my constituents who have supported me and my efforts. During my tenure, I have supported economic development in my community and state. We've been successful in bringing new companies to the area and I will continue to expand our economic base. I am an Iraq War veteran and have served with the South Carolina National Guard for the past twenty years, so I am a strong supporter of our military and our veterans. Too many vets are suffering with inadequate access to services and I am focused on delivering their much deserved care and benefits. I am running because I plan to bring good-paying jobs to the district, support the military, restore economic security, ensure students receive a good education and provide access to affordable healthcare.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

My campaign is focused on several pillars, all designed to improve the quality of life for all Americans and particularly the citizens of the 7th Congressional District. These include bringing good-paying jobs to the district, supporting our military and veterans, restoring economic security, ensuring students receive a good education and providing access to affordable housing and health care. I believe that access to healthcare is a right and not a privilege and I’ll work to ensure affordable healthcare for all. I believe that education is the strong and necessary foundation for equality, prosperity and an informed electorate. I will work on improving access to early education to build literacy and also support access to college and higher education by advocating for funds to create tuition free opportunities for students at community and technical colleges. I am running for Congress because I am fighting for US.
