QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

To save a woman's life or if the woman's life is in danger from sexual assault/rape.

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Agree

I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.

Neutral

ECONOMY

What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?

The tax code should be based upon income. Higher income earners should pay more taxes.

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

I would like to reduce the spending on national defense contracts such as paying trillions of dollars for planes that do not work.

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Agree

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Disagree

Under what circumstances can government close churches?

If a deadly virus is a threat to national security or public safety.

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.

B.

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

We should require vaccinations when an overwhelming majority of the population has been infected with a life threatening virus.

NATIONAL SECURITY

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?

We must improve our diplomatic relationships with countries that harbor known terrorists. Diplomacy improves opportunities to identify and charge existential threats to our national security. All US intelligent agencies should be authorized to take out all existential threats when supported by sufficient evidence.

I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.

Neutral

IMMIGRATION

The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.

Agree

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

I think that all immigrants should enter this country through our normal immigration process. Everyone should follow the proper steps to legally become a citizen of this country.

EDUCATION

I support school choice, including voucher programs, tax credits, charter schools, private schools, and home schools.

Agree

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Agree

I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.

Neutral

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition

Agree

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Neutral

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I believe in one God. I am a Chrisitan pastor of the Baptist denomination. I have been a professed Christain since 1988 (age 12). My faith deeply informs by morals, beliefs, and respect for all people.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Disagree

What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?

People should be able to vote online as long as there is a virtual portal and two forms of identification. This technology is already available with virtual notarizations for legal documents. The same process could work for virtual voting.

EQUALITY

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

All US intelligent agencies should collaborate to charge and process all racist extremist groups. If there is significant proof that these groups are a threat to our national security, they must be held accountable.

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

Agree

Special field order No. 15 was never delivered to its intended recipients (slaves), therefore the descendants of special field order no. 15 should receive the assets that were formerly promised by the US government.

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.

B

I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.

Neutral

ABOUT YOU

What do you think is the general purpose of government?

The purpose of the government is to protect the citizens of its nation. This also means that the government should protect its citizens from all threats both foreign and domestic. The second role of government is to provide structure so that society can function efficiently.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Moderate

Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).

www.youtube.com/boyceisourchoice

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No.

What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?

My name is Tony Boyce and I am running as an Independence Party candidate on November 8, 2022. I am running for this office because I have a vision for change for our district. Please support our campaign by observing the following three goals: 1) Respecting all voters by reducing high monthly utility costs. According to EnergySC.gov has the 3rd highest monthly average of electricity costs in the nation of $144.73 per month. Energy providers must become a consumer choice and not a legislative zoning decision. I will work to pass legislation that will give SC voters the option of choosing their energy provider in the same way they choose their cell phone provider. 2) Resolving our problems together by providing safer roads for all SC passengers to travel on. According to ConsumerAffairs.com, SC ranked 14th in the nation in 2021 with the worst roads in the country. The rising gas costs and inflation will make it harder for working families to afford to travel each day. Poor roads are unsafe and fail to provide SC tax payers the public good they deserve: safer roads. 3) Responsible Leadership begins with placing voter demands above the agendas of a political party. This means that a bi-partisan leader needs to be in the seat to work with Republicans and Democrats. I will work to present legislation to remove the party primary system from SC politics and have the candidates enter the ballot through petition signatures from the voters. It is time that our candidates prove that they can be held accountable to the voters above the political parties.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.

Strongly Disagree

ualified immunity, as John Jeffries has remarked, is “the most important doctrine in the law of constitutional torts.”1 That is because it shields a government official from a civil suit for monetary damages unless said official violates “clearly established” constitutional rights.2 As highlighted by the other contributions to this annual federal courts issue, qualified immunity has generated substantial commentary and criticism over the years. Such critical attention should come as no surprise

I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.

Neutral

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

Access to assault weapons should begin at age 21 and with the proper background checks. This is consistent with legal drinking age of 21. Convicted felons should be banned from access to assault weapons.

Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.
