OTHER INFORMATION

QUESTIONNAIRE

OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

1. Free enterprise and the right to private property turn mankind's natural self interest into the fairest and most productive economic system there is, and are the key to national prosperity.

Neutral

2. It is the government’s responsibility to be sure everyone has health care and a livable income.

Strongly Agree

3. The United States must maintain a nuclear arsenal that is safe, reliable, modern and numerically superior to those of potential adversaries.

Strongly Disagree

4. Government should enforce laws designed to protect the border and to prevent illegal entry of persons into the country.

Agree

5. The Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) should be repealed by Congress.

Disagree

6. Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Disagree

7. Marriage is a union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.

Strongly Disagree

8. Efforts to bring Islamic law (shariah) to America do not pose a threat to our country and its Constitution.

Strongly Agree

9. Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which permitted our system of limited government.

Disagree

10. Governments should pay to develop wind and solar energy solutions when these are not economically feasible.

Strongly Agree

11. More restrictive gun control laws are needed now to protect public safety.

Agree

12. The founders established pure democracy in the Constitution because they believed that it is the best form of government to ensure the safety and equitable treatment of all citizens.

Strongly Agree

13. People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Agree

14. The federal government should establish nationwide standards (such as Common Core) for high-school graduation.

Neutral

15. What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers within the Constitution?

An honest observance of human history and the Founder's recent experience with monarchy, along with an interest in the (what was then) "radical" ideas coming out of France at the time, was what created this grand experiment with democracy and self-governance that has lasted so long.

16. Briefly list three (3) political or legislative issues of most concern to you, and explain why each is important to you.

Healthcare: too many people are one medical emergency away from financial ruin. HR 676 (the "Medicare for All" Act) is the only fair and equitable way to end this problem. Universal Higher Education: these days a high school diploma barely qualifies someone to pick up trash in a parking lot, but the spiraling cost of a college education and the problem of insurmountable student loan debt following graduation is putting the dream of a better life out of the reach of too many Americans. The US Government should follow the Norwegian example and put higher education (both traditional liberal arts as well as trade and vocational training) available to everyone regardless of ability to pay. Living wage and right to unionize: The Labor movement is the last vanguard of our rapidly vanishing middle class. Our current labor laws must be respected and strengthened, our so-called "free trade" agreements must be renegotiated or abandoned completely, and the minimum wage must be raised.

17. Should abortion be allowed under extenuating circumstances? If so, what circumstances?

Abortion is settled law at this point. The only options for restricting it at this point would be a prohibition that would immediately be struck down by the Courts or the creation of a massive new bureaucracy that would stand between a woman and her doctor to make that decision for her. I, for one, am not comfortable with either. Abortion should be safe, legal, and rare, and that decision should be between a woman, her physician, and her God.

18. Based on the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution, please arrange the following entities, starting with the highest source of authority, and continue the list in descending order of authority, skipping any that do not apply: Academia, Congress, Constitution, God, Industry, Media, Professional Sports, Supreme Court, Voters.

Constitution, voters, Supreme Court and Congress, Academia

19. Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I believe in the First Amendment.
