What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?
All mankind is created equal, but the human mind, either through dishonest greed or honest pride, considers itself more equal than others. It is the nature of man to consider other men as clay to be sculpted and to use the government as his tool to sculpt. For this reason, the U.S. Constitution carefully limits and balances the powers of government.
Based on the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution, please arrange the following entities, starting with the highest source of authority, and continue the list in descending order of authority, skipping any that do not apply: Academia, Congress, Constitution, God, Industry, Media, Professional Sports, Supreme Court, Voters.
The only source of moral authority in government is inherent human rights, which come from our nature as moral free agents with free election.
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
This issue does not fall under the purview of the Secretary of State. I will not overstep the limits of the office to engage in partisan arguments.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
God does not live in houses made by men. I am an absolute supporter of the separation of church and state. As I would not have someone force their religion on me, I would not force mine on another.
Considering all issues (social, economic, national security, etc.), which of these best describes you?
Moderate
Please defend your answer to the previous question by referencing your publicly available track record.
I am neither conservative, nor liberal. I am neither a Republican nor a Democrat, nor am I what one would truly call a moderate. The the Left-Right way of seeing things is a simplistic, but flawed understanding of our political differences. I encourage all voters to go to a great website called isidewith.com, which helps draw out a more nuanced and balanced picture of our diverse political views, and they may find that they identify with Libertarian, Green, or other political parties or view points. My viewpoint is Libertarian, which means that while I have a high moral standard, I do not believe in using the government to force this standard on others.

Additional comment from candidate:
The job of the Secretary of State is to be a neutral mediator and fair judge of elections. It is not to take sides. Therefore, I have not answered many of the questions on this survey, not because I do not have a viewpoint or because I wish to avoid an issue, but because it is not the job of the Secretary of State to enforce these issues, nor to set their policy. It is the job of the Secretary of State to count your vote without bias. In general, I am dissatisfied with political surveys like this one which do not allow candidates to express important nuances, or qualifying remarks. I do not see the Secretary of State's office as a tool of partisan warfare, but as the office of government requiring the greatest amount of integrity, impartiality, and fairness.
