I voted in these primaries and general elections:

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

I believe that life begins at conception. My voting record shows my unwavering support for the pro-life cause. Every effort should be made to protect the life of the unborn and the mother carrying the child to birth.

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of radical Islamic terrorism?

Appeasement does not work. President Trump has been very successful in defeating ISIS. We must take the fight to the terrorists. At the same time, we must continue to isolate Iran, a regime that supports terror organizations across the world and halt their nuclear ambitions. We must squeeze the Iranian government and restrict their ability to funnel money to groups like ISIS and Hezbollah.

What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?

The Founders believed that America would be a great nation only if it were a nation of laws, not of men. In carefully dividing responsibilities and authorities among three separate and co-equal branches of government, the Founders ensured that no one person or branch will be able to consolidate power.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I believe in God, that He created us in His image, that He loves us all, and that every life is valuable. I believe He endowed us with certain rights at birth. These rights are created and given to us by God, not government.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Very Conservative

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

My voting record more than speaks for itself. I have consistently voted for legislation that expands personal freedom, limits government authority, cuts spending, and empowers individuals instead of the state.

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

We need to repeal Obamacare (which I have voted to do on dozens of occasions) and institute real, market-oriented reforms that encourages and fosters competition in the marketplace. Top-down, Washington-based mandates do not work. I am a strong proponent of Health Savings Accounts, which allow Americans to pay for routine and preventive care.

What role should government play in boosting the economy?

The government should not pick winners and losers in the marketplace. The government's role should be to provide a reasonable and responsible regulatory structure, encouraging economic growth, not stifling it. We must rein in government bureaucrats who are creating burdensome red tape. A tax code that unleashes the entrepreneurial spirit of America is also essential.

What changes should be made to the tax code?

I voted for the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, which provides tax cuts for Americans across the board. I believe the American people know how to spend their money better than the government. We have already seen the positive benefits of the tax cuts, with more companies offering bonuses, increased pay, and additional benefits. Lowering personal and corporate rates, and simplifying the tax code will make it easier for workers and businesses to file their taxes, spending their time on productive economic activity rather than trying to take advantage of tax loopholes.

What is the best way to bring down unemployment?

We need to foster an economic environment in which businesses have the means and ability to hire more workers. Pro-growth policies like lower taxes and regulatory reform will free businesses from bureaucratic red tape and allow them to focus on their businesses. Additionally, we need to implement reforms to our entitlement programs, encouraging those who can work to find jobs or further their education.

How would you guarantee Social Security benefits for future generations?

Many who are in or near retirement have planned their future counting that Social Security will be there for them, and we have a moral and contractual obligation to protect that. Entitlement spending (Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, and interest on the national debt) comprise roughly 75% of annual federal spending. That is unsustainable. If we are to address our debt and deficit spending, we have to address entitlements while ensuring they are there for Americans who need them. The policies I support, those of tax cuts and regulatory reforms, are creating more opportunities for Americans and more options to save for their future.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

I spent 40 years in the private sector, running a business, employing people, and building an American Dream. We need people who have signed both sides of the paycheck in Congress. I understand how government policies affect individuals and businesses. I have been fighting to change those policies since I began advocating for farmers through Ohio Farm Bureau over 20 years ago.
