The longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this truth that God Governs in the affairs of all men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without his notice, is it probable that a country such as American can rise without his aid? Man's Liberties and rights come from God, not from the Government, and that ordinary men can govern themselves. A man's life is not cast, but through merit, education, and ability he can rise to greatness. That a country can depend on the goodness of its people and their willingness to give back and to help others through the grace of God, not through false charity of taxation. For it is not the Government's to give.
