QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Disagree
If abortion is a medical procedure to preserve the life of the mother then why should the patient bear the expense? If it is a religiously opposed act then separation of church and state would apply. Abortion is an issue that affects women and they should have the rights granted to all humans to make medical decisions. The privacy of making those decisions should be defended by law.
I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.
Disagree
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
The conditions of abortion should be individual. The history of rape, sexual abuse, and incest is documented in society. While women have been victims of rape without recourse to address this horrendous crime due to the systematic denial of human rights and treated as property many were forced to suffer in silence or worse not believed when reporting such violations. The burden of proof often still rests on the victim who must endure countless repetitions of relaying the events thus reliving them in public. These conditions call for a compassionate stance toward abortion that each case be treated individually and privately. The ending of a life, the quality of life, and life after the decision is one that is endured by the individual. The consciousness of the individual will bear the weight of the decision.
ECONOMY
Redistribution of income is needed to lessen the gap between the wealthy and working classes.
Strongly Agree
Redistribution happens quite often without many realizing what is happening. The transfer of wealth upward is what we are usually experiencing. That is how the gap has grown to reflect an immoral disparity.
The government should cut spending in order to reduce the national debt.
Strongly Agree
The first area of spending that should be cut is government subsidies in sectors that show profits. There should not be funding for endless wars while the needs of citizens, infrastructure, and services people need remain unaddressed.
What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?
The tax code should have a flat rate starting with income that is above the poverty level. The poverty level should accurately reflect inflation and the cost of living. The index, based on the cost of living and inflation should be adjusted yearly to determine tax rates. If all income is taxed why should everything we use our money to buy be taxed again? The idea of paying one's fair share must be re-evaluated. Those with the most should not be paying the least or bragging about not paying at all.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.
Strongly Agree
Religion has been used as an excuse or pretext to mistreat others or consider others inferior. In protecting religious liberty the boundaries must reflect tolerance of others and consequences if those practices impede on the rights of others.
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Disagree
The religious beliefs of a person should not be tested by provocation in a business transaction. People forget that usury, extortion, fraud, cheating, and lying concerning a product or service happen. Treating others as one desires to be treated is as well established as a principle as is separating one's self from those who one disagrees with. The words "we don't serve your kind" have been uttered to me. I know their sting. I also know the glares of patrons who agreed with the merchant.
What should be the relationship between the church and the state?
The relationship is established. There is to be separation. If one is a person of faith being sworn into office the allegiance one bears is to all constituents regardless of their faith, political party, or class. There is an assumption/expectation that one's faith is supposed to make one more ethical and moral. The currency of truth is supposed to be the only currency of public office. Religion does not determine right and wrong, just and unjust. Fortitude empowers one to stand in a balanced objective matter concerning the creation of law and its implications. The treatment of people is supposed to be benevolent and the responsibility of officers charged to care for the people is a matter of the state. The state is charged with dispensing resources in a manner that is an example of equity, equality, and efficiency.
HEALTHCARE
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
There are vaccinations that have years of accepted research and use that have irradicated the proliferation of some illnesses. If the requirement of vaccination is required there should be no gain of function research, viral mutation experimentation, or biological warfare conducted to impede the confidence of the necessity of the vaccination. The public needs to know that there is no eugenics, depopulation, or gentrification efforts supported by any industry involved in the manufacturing and or administering of vaccines. Transparency and public review of vaccine creation must be part of enforced informed consent. Violators of a strict policy should be removed from the field and permanently barred from future participation. There should also be criminal statutes concerning harm if revealed the risk of that harm was known before the public is offered of the substance.
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.
Healthcare is a human right tied to our humanity and compassion. It is our responsibility to care for the ill. As people discuss abortion the moral questions asked are not applied to all medical procedures. Vision and dental should not be separated from health care. The United States gives money to counties that have healthcare for all citizens. How can we send medical supplies and humanitarian aid to other nations and not care for our own? The right to live or survive an illness should not be based on income. A person should not lose their home to medical debt and worse people who do not specialize in areas of medicine should not be deciding what is covered under any plan. People reducing doses to make meds stretch is not effective for their illness. Using knock-off drugs because they are cheaper is not quality care. To optimize a government healthcare system we need ethical people. We need honest people. We do not need those who have put us in this place and held us captive here with excuses. As long as they are in place nothing will change unless it is to get worse.
NATIONAL SECURITY
With regard to America's foreign policy, which view most closely resembles yours: A) The United States should intervene whenever freedom is threatened. B) The United States should selectively help countries trying to grow democracy and fight tyranny. C) The United States has become too involved in others' policies and should remain focused on issues regarding our own sovereignty unless in imminent danger. D) The United States should stay out of foreign conflicts completely.
To know what our policy should be, first, we must know the truth about what our policy has been and what it is. A fruitful conversation as to our policy would include the truth about our role in the world and our impact on other sovereign nations. The U.S. should concentrate on being more of an example to the world in its treatment and care of citizens. We must provide for our own by creating the opportunity that once existed for everyone in a legitimate way. Financial tyranny, abject poverty, corruption, and exploitation are issues we must deal with at home. We start by raising the bar on the expectation of avoiding the appearance of impropriety instead of making excuses for it, regardles of who is the focus of questionable deeds. Our leaders should be beyond reproach when condemning or supporting another nation in its endeavors. We have a lot of work to do to restore the reputation of leading by example as a nation internationally.
I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.
Disagree
I disagree because sanctions affect people who have no say in the policy their government enacts. The government actions which bring sanctions are the problem. Those in Government keep the best of everything and if there is less they will hoard it. Boycotts compared to sanctions do work. When those accustomed to having the best of everything are forced to be without it changes them because the impact is economic. People deserve to live in peace, not fear. Religion should not cause death.
The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.
Disagree
Any threat that is perceived should evoke a diplomatic effort before it decays into hostility. People have been told Russia is our biggest threat and now it's China. As one who has held security clearance our threats to national security are the unregistered foreign agents within our government. A security threat is one quietly doing private business with China and in the position to influence national relations.
What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?
Islamic terrorism is not the only terrorism we have to combat. Organizations inflicting terror domestically are a serious threat. Maybe some accountability for the WMD deception would curtail some of the radicalizations. One can not irradicate the hate by displaying more hate. The conflicts just escalate. The fruitless time spent in Afghanistan fueled Islamic terrorism. The celebration of killing a terrorist only makes it worse. If the importance of transparency is why the capture or killing of a terrorist is important the same transparency should exist for all the nations our government bombs and the reasons for those bombings should be known, We should not run out of bombs and no one knows why they are being dropped.
IMMIGRATION
The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.
Strongly Agree
State and federal funds shall be denied to any public or private entity, such as a sanctuary city, that is not in compliance with immigration laws.
Neutral
Immigration is an issue for the states and Congress. not the President. Review of the Constitution rest powers concerning the issue in their hands because the states must decide if they will allow immigrants to enter and what their entitlements are to be. As a matter of national security, the borders should be sealed to permit proper entry and a clear policy for residency should be established concerning citizenship which is a federal power.
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
Immigration from another country, as opposed to visitation, should be more stringent. If criminal offenses are to be a barrier to immigration or citizenship then a system of data sharing would be necessary. There should be no interment camps for people who just show up at the border. They should not be allowed entry. Processing should take place on the other side of the border not the US side.
VALUES
Sexual orientation and gender identity should be protected classes in non-discrimination laws.
Choose not to answer
I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.
Disagree
The events of history should be taught in their entirety. They should be factually presented in a scholarly manner with citations and evidence. Some people are racist and will never change. Racist people were and maybe still are in positions of power. The best of us should be in office and the content of one's character should be how we are assessed.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
Human life is of value. The taking of life outside of defense should be avoided. I am a person of faith. Prayer, meditation, and contemplation help me to decern between right and wrong and those who do right and wrong.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Disagree
Voting is a privilege of citizens. every citizen should have the right to vote unobstructed without threat or coercion. The status of a citizen must have some method of verification.
What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?
Paper ballots should be used and counted in plain view. Simple addition is not proprietary.
EQUALITY
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
Strongly Agree
Discrimination, slavery, and injustice occur solely based on race.
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
Yes. The government owes all its citizens the same protection. To have those tasked with protecting all not held to the task is a matter of security. Property being valued over life is not what "protect and serve" is supposed to mean. As long as people are committing violence based on race domestic security remains an issue.
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.
Strongly Disagree
Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.
B. One can not commit billions of dollars to climate change while not enforcing real environmental accountability. Environmental destruction should be raised to criminal prosecution for repeat offenders.
ABOUT YOU
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Choose not to answer
The categories come with too much baggage to accept. The hypocrisy in each category displayed in divisive media cancel culture prevents a legitimate label. Some people are looking for something to catch others on or in without being reflective or honest about bias.
Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).
There are videos of me testifying before NJ State Committee members concerning education. political threats, and the disparity of wealth and opportunity in communities. There are also video records of my time serving in Hopewell as they archive our meetings. Each meeting is broadcast live and recorded.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
no
What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?
The questions one asks may reveal one's motives. There are some questions about religion and its place in government in this questionnaire. As I seek the privilege of representing the people of the district I contemplate and examine the best possible example of representation. It would be that of Jesus. As a representative of his father he said and did the bidding of the one who sent him. This example provides the representative a clear example of how and what one should do in the duty of the position of Representative. One should say what those they represent say, and do as they ask. The representative gives up the individual vote as the position nullifies the individual. The individual no longer has the authority to say what they want or need because it is no longer about them. It is about those being represented. I have answered these questions as I believe to the best of my ability but my responses do not capture the thoughts of my potential constituents. They will give me their thoughts and desires and I will execute on their behalf to the best of my ability. Candidates debate each other while they should be listening to the people they represent. It is not about what I bring to the table outside of my honesty and skills but my ability to use them for the benefit of the people of the district and what they need. We will not get real representation until we find those among us willing to do the job for us, instead of themselves. For our representatives to replace career politicians we need election integrity. Election integrity is an issue. The outcome of an election cannot be the sole determination of its validity. Voters can not blame/criticize each other for election results when the counting of votes and the authenticity of ballots remain in question. Voters must consider each candidate individually because people can change parties whenever they want to. Van Drew changed parties while in office. Just because a person is in a party does not guarantee they hold the same values as the voter who claims that affiliation. I would also like voters to consider that each step of the election process is supposed to be fair. Candidates should all have an equal chance to debate/challenge opponents and make their case in the presence of constituents. Primaries should be fair and constitute an obligation of the primary party to remain neutral as an agreement by exclusivity is formed with the voter when declaring a party to participate in a primary. The voter and candidates are entitled to a fair primary as the candidate may be eliminated and barred from continuing in the election process. I am running as an independent because it is important to owe no one and to be totally free to advocate on behalf of all constituents. One does not need a lot of money to win a race. One only needs one more vote than the opponent and people who will count those votes fairly. I am Allen J. Cannon and I humbly ask for the opportunity to become your Representative. Thank you.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.
Disagree
Immunity is not automatic and nor should it be expected. The closing of ranks during an incident can be a difficult obstacle to overcome when looking for the truth or evidence. The accessibility to the truth concerning a profession that requires honor is an issue because this question exists. Every officer and administrator who fails to reveal the truth provides the culture of concealment a haven. Those things not addressed can be used to compromise the integrity of the entire organization.
I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.
Agree
The police will always have what they need to be effective. Many have received more in spite of their issues. More resources should be devoted to mental health and community programs but that would be solved with a universal healthcare system.
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
Firearm training would help. Proper securing of firearms and liability for not doing so. Criminals don't follow restrictions on gun sales or public safety, and neither do arms dealers. Maybe our government could stop normalizing the use of guns and weapons by arming other countries. There should be restrictions on organizations donating to candidates because these recipients of these funds are conflicted in an issue of public safety. People who use guns to harm other people should never have the opportunity to repeat the offense.
Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.
Disagree
