18. What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers within the Constitution?
Two separate desires: One is for the accumulation of power to a central authority and the abuses that comes with that; the second is pure selfishness, that one person will act solely in his best interest.
19. Based on the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution, please arrange the following entities, starting with the highest source of authority, and continue the list in descending order of authority, skipping any that do not apply: Academia, Congress, Constitution, God, Industry, Media, Professional Sports, Supreme Court, Voters.
God, Voters, Constitution, Congress, Supreme Court. All others lack authority in our system of government.
20. Should abortion be allowed under extenuating circumstances? If so, what circumstances?
While the answer is generally none, there may be circumstances, rare, where it is shown the infant has predeceased the mother or the infant is more likely than not to be a live birth, and the mother's life is in danger of death or severe bodily harm or total and permanent disability caused by carrying the infant to natural birth. In this instance a proper medical decision should be made.
21. Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a Christian. That means I am flawed, a sinner, imperfect. I serve a perfect God, who through his own grace, gave his one and only natural born Son Jesus to come to earth, to live a perfect life, and to die as a perfect sacrifice for sin. Jesus conquered death, and through him, I too may have eternal life. To me to Live is Christ, and to die is gain. This life I live, is no longer to myself, but to Christ, through Christ, and in Christ. My decisions reflect what he would do in my circumstances. My primary ethic therefore is service, to meet needs according to his will. I value family as the instrument of God's grace. I value Church as a place to hold ourselves accountable to each other. I value people as the creation and embodiment of God's grace, as each person is made in the image of God.
