20. Should abortion be allowed under extenuating circumstances? If so, what circumstances?
The extenuating circumstances usually mentioned are rape/incest or danger to the life of the mother. In the latter instance, danger to the life of the mother is normally an assumption and not a valid argument. Abortion carries its own medical dangers. In the instance of rape or incest it is hard to imagine the pain which would go along with such a horrible violation. The added pain of carrying a baby as a result would be incomprehensible to me. However, it is still the taking of the life of an innocent baby to commit abortion. Therefore, I cannot support abortion even in these extenuating circumstances.
