QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

My Bio-Mom was a homeless runaway with a one year old daughter, when she found out she was pregnant with me. Michigan valued the life of the unborn and MI's laws protected my life by limiting my bio-mom's choices to keeping me or giving me up for adoption. When I explained this to a coworker, he told me he was conceived through the heinous act of rape and that his mom fought with her relatives to keep her unborn child. I also was asked by another coworker thirty years ago, if I would consider abortion as an option for a child that tested positive for a genetic birth defect, I replied no, and asked why, he then confided that his unborn child tested positive for downs syndrome. Months later, Chuck and his wife, had their child with no genetic abnormalities. For these reasons and because my faith tells me in Jeremiah 1:5 "Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations." I can't support the repugnant act of dissecting, a live human being, who by no fault of their own can't speak for themselves. Someone needs to be a voice for the unborn and I am up for the fight.

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Agree

Our Federal, State and Local governments should never be in a position where they are supporting the death of any person without due process as guaranteed by the fourteenth amendment of the US Constitution. If a Defendant can be charged with the death of the unborn through negligence or in the act of a crime then our laws should recognize the unborn as a person.

I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.

Strongly Disagree

I believe that we all have a purpose and even in our last minutes on earth we can be a blessing to others. Moments before my Dad passed away, he opened his eyes long enough to respond to me yelling "I love you Dad", my father opened his eyes long enough to say, I love you too, which was his last words. It is tough to watch a loved one struggle with pain management and dwindling health. Our healthcare professionals should never be put in the position of having the responsibility of ending a life.

ECONOMY

What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?

As a State office holder, I would have no influence on US tax code. If I could change anything at the state level, I would like to find a way to protect those on fixed incomes especially the elderly from loosing their home to ever increasing property taxes. I was at the tax assessors office for a dispute (which I won) when an elderly lady came out, from the appointment before us, crying and under her breath stating that she was going to lose her home. I will never forget the look on her face.

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

As a state legislator, I will have no influence on balancing the federal budget .

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Strongly Disagree

College is not for everyone. I graduated from High School and found employment in the skilled trades, I eventually found my way to a trade school and an apprenticeship program, this path allowed me to get paid by my employer while I worked. To ask me to pay taxes into a system that would pay for the higher education of others would not be equatable.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Strongly Disagree

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; (U.S. Constitution)

Under what circumstances can government close churches?

None! Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; (U.S. Constitution) or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, (U.S. Constitution) NEVER!

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.

C)Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. If I could legislate change at the state level, I would add an option for direct primary care coupled with a catastrophic plan to cover medical emergencies.

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

Never !

NATIONAL SECURITY

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?

We will never be able to legislate hate away. We must let the world know that we will defend our way of life as President Ronald Regan said with "peace through strength". We as a country must understand that other countries want to see the United States of America fail. Our system of government of the people, for the people and by the people is a system of government that other countries citizens long for and their tyrannical government leaders fear.

I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.

Strongly Disagree

As a state legislator, I will not be able to influence Israel / Palestinian relations, but personally, I stand with the Israeli people and their right to Israel.

IMMIGRATION

The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.

Strongly Agree

Build the Wall. We are not a nation if we don't have borders and you don't have borders if you don't or can't regulate the flow of legal immigrants entering the country.

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

We have laws that address who should be allowed to immigrate, our problem is that we have a "president" and federal justice system that will not enforce them.

EDUCATION

I support school choice, including voucher programs, tax credits, charter schools, private schools, and home schools.

Strongly Agree

I will fight for a system where the money followes the child, but most importantly, with no strings attached.

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Strongly Agree

I understand that our rights come from God and our constitution limits the government from usurping these rights. Our founding fathers had to have had supernatural wisdom, courage and faith to create a system of government of the people, by the people, and for the people all while not granting special privileges for themselves .

I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.

Strongly Disagree

As the declaration of independence states, we hold these truths to be self evident, that all men (people) are created equal, that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights. When you carve out special rights for specific groups of people you end up creating the division that you were trying to prevent. We have laws that protect people, we must do better at enforcing them.

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition

Strongly Agree

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Strongly Disagree

CRT - should NOT be taught in our schools! CRT is a Marxist tool too indoctrinate our children and change society as a whole and not for the better.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

Born again Christian, I have a time and a place. My spiritual journey started as a child of non believing parents who took it upon myself to get on a church bus as a child. Later in life, I attended the Catholic church with my wife (girlfriend at the time) at 16 years of age. We were married in the Catholic church we followed my In-laws to the Lutheran church where we spent many years before eventually moving to a mega church. Years later we found a small local bible believing church. My beliefs follow that of the apostles creed. My values, I was once told that there are two types of people in public office, politicians and statesman, the difference, politicians fear people and statesman fear God, I will be a statesman.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

Every citizen of the United States of America must present a valid ID to vote in any and all elections. We must count only legally cast votes and to insure that, absentee ballots must be requested a your local clerks office and ID must me presented at that time.

What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?

In Michigan my wife and I have witnessed voter fraud many times, our absentee system is in desperate need of reforms. Signature verification must be more stringent, the handling of ballets whether raw or filled out must be more secure. Voter rolls must be purged of people that no longer live in the area or have died. Absentee counting "MUST" be performed with republican and democratic parties side by side working together. When a ballot box is opened for a recount and the physical evidence present is in dispute with the numbers registered in the machine and book the actual ballots presented must be the new count. I would also consider a system like Florida with a week of early voting while limiting absentee voting. I would support Severe and quick penalties for those found guilty of fraud or "gaming the system". We are America we can do much better!

EQUALITY

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

I wholeheartedly despise racism and have a history to prove it. I do believe that we are all one race, the human race. Racism is something that I pray will one day no longer exist, but people are flawed and hate is of the devil. We live in a free society and we can't legislate an end to hate. Calling racism a threat to domestic security will only cause it to go deeper underground or covert. To end Racism we must bring it up to the surface and deal with the hearts and minds of those that hate others, especially those that hate only because of the color of someones skin tone.

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

Strongly Disagree

We shouldn't punish people for past wrongs done by others.

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.

A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy.

I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.

Agree

We have what have what we need to meet the needs of the American people so we can be self sufficient. This is a national security issue.

ABOUT YOU

What do you think is the general purpose of government?

United States Preamble We the people of the US, in order to form a more perfect Union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and posterity, do ordain and establish the Constitution for the United States of America.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.

Strongly Agree

Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty

I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.

Strongly Disagree

Redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs, is a recipe for disaster.

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

2nd Amendment (US Constitution) A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. Michigan Constitution Article 1 Sec. 6; Every person has a right to keep and bear arms for the defense of himself and the state.

Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.

Strongly Disagree

NEVER!
