18. What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers within the Constitution?

The Founders feared that man, by nature, would seek to accumulate as much power as possible for themselves. They believed that this was a threat to democracy and that it would lead to under-representation of some groups as well as corruption. The separation of powers has been extremely effective in assuring that all groups have a voice. Throughout our history, individuals have tried to weaken this separation and we must remain ever vigilant to protect our Constitution.

19. Based on the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution, please arrange the following entities, starting with the highest source of authority, and continue the list in descending order of authority, skipping any that do not apply: Academia, Congress, Constitution, God, Industry, Media, Professional Sports, Supreme Court, Voters.

God, Constitution, voters, Congress/Supreme Court

20. Should abortion be allowed under extenuating circumstances? If so, what circumstances?

While I personally would be opposed to abortion under any circumstances, I do not believe that I can, in good conscience, tell a woman that she cannot have an abortion in cases of rape or incest or when her life is in danger. I would allow her to follow her own conscience in those cases.

21. Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I believe that Jesus is the Son of God and that he died for our sins. I try to make Christian values and morality the basis on which I live my life.
