I believe the Founders were inspired, as well as very thoughtful to make sure that we had a separation of powers that made sure the will of the people was followed, without trampling on a minority class. The Founders were also clear as to make sure that we never had a monarch or ruling class. That all men and women were created equal and had the same opportunities to find their happiness.
