15. What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers within the Constitution?
It was their understanding of our sin nature and natural bent towards ambition and power that led them to devise a system of checks and balances. Madison describes this in Federalist 51 when he says, "If men were angels, no government would be necessary. If angels were to govern men, neither external nor internal controls on government would be necessary."

16. Briefly list three (3) political or legislative issues of most concern to you, and explain why each is important to you.
1) I believe in a limited, Constitutional government. We have a federal government who continues to overstep the boundaries that were placed on it by the Constitution and we need leaders are are able to articulate an original understanding of the Constitution and who are willing to push back against the continued government overreach. 2) I believe in fiscal responsibility. With $17.5 trillion of debt, we needs leaders who are willing to fight against the reckless overspending in Washington. That means they are going to have to make tough choices and even take tough votes to get us back on the road to balance. We must get our debt under control. 3) I believe in traditional values like life, marriage, family, personal responsibility and the nobility of work. These values have helped make our nation great and so we need leaders who can stand up and defend these values.
