15. What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers within the Constitution?

As George Washington noted in his Farewell Address: "The spirit of encroachment tends to consolidate the powers of all the departments in one, and thus to create, whatever the form of government, a real despotism. A just estimate of that love of power, and proneness to abuse it, which predominates in the human heart, is sufficient to satisfy us of the truth of this position. "

16. Briefly list three (3) political or legislative issues of most concern to you, and explain why each is important to you.

I am appalled at the bond buying policy that effectively doubled our money supply and thereby halved the purchasing power of American citizens when it comes to buying essential products. For example, Americans are currently paying nearly $5 for a gallon of milk, while we were paying only about $1.89 a few years ago. Similarly, while Americans are producing more oil than ever, prices continue to rise at the pump. Thus, I am committed to never again allowing the Federal Reserve to undertake a bond buying policy that transfers wealth from working Americans to multinational financial institutions who recklessly gambled away their profits. One measure that I would propose to signal this change in financial policy is to audit the Federal Reserve. Secondly, I will always put the interests of American citizens ahead of non-citizens. This means that I will never vote for an amnesty for illegal immigrants and that I will never vote to involve American troops in shadowy foreign entanglements.

17. Should abortion be allowed under extenuating circumstances? If so, what circumstances?

If the life of the mother is threatened, an abortion should be allowed.

1. God 2. the Constitution 3. Congress 4. the voters

19. Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I adhere strongly to the classical notion of pietas -- that is, I believe that one owes his very being to God, his family and his patria (which is a much better term than the ambiguous designation, country). Therefore, my life is defined by my duty to God, my family and the land of my forefathers. For answers to questions of utmost importance, I turn to the Bible, early Christian writers, the great minds of classical antiquity, and this nation's founding fathers and their European forerunners. While I may not always find the "perfect" solutions to the problems that I encounter in life, these sources of wisdom do provide me with guideposts by which I may live my life in an acceptable and honorable manner.
