15. What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers within the Constitution?
Our founders were primarily Christian men who believed in the doctrine of original sin. They understood the quote of Lord Acton "Power tends to corrupt, absolute power corrupts absolutely". They knew that for government to remain limited, offering the maximum Liberty to citizens, it required Constitutionally mandated separation of power with checks and balances to prevent the corrupting influence of power.
16. Briefly list three (3) political or legislative issues of most concern to you, and explain why each is important to you.
1. Repealing Obamacare (aka "affordable" care act) and Abolishing the National Dept of Education: This is critical as both Obamacare and the Nat'l Dept of Ed are unconstitutional overreaches by the Federal Government. The individual mandate under Obamacare is not Constitutional under the commerce clause, which is how it was sold to Congress. 2. Fighting for enforcement of our immigration laws and against plans for amnesty. We need to secure our borders and bring immigration under control. It is killing our economy and destroying the fabric of America. 3. Simplifying our tax code and move away from the so-called "progressive" tax to a consumption based tax. I am a proponent of the "Fair Tax" and eventual abolition of the IRS, though I realize we may have to move through a flat tax period to get to that goal.
17. Should abortion be allowed under extenuating circumstances? If so, what circumstances?
The only exception for abortion should be in cases where an abortion would be necessary to save the life of the mother. In that specific case, the decision is with the mother. In all other cases, abortion should not be allowed.
18. Based on the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution, please arrange the following entities, starting with the highest source of authority, and continue the list in descending order of authority, skipping any that do not apply: Academia, Congress, Constitution, God, Industry, Media, Professional Sports, Supreme Court, Voters.
God, Constitution, Voters, Congress, Supreme Court, Industry, Academia, Media, Professional Sports.
19. Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a born-again Christian who believes the Bible is the inspired Word of God. I believe it to be true, and hold to Biblical values. Admittedly, I am not perfect, as a sinner saved by grace, but strive to the example of Jesus Christ and believe I will someday face judgment under His sacrifice on the cross.
