15. What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers within the Constitution?
Our founders knew that it is human nature to take advantage of a situation or position. They worked hard to find a away to ensure that people who gained control of one branch would not be able to circumvent, ignore or silence another. In our modern age we have seen that separation blurred and outright ignored to our detriment.
16. Briefly list three (3) political or legislative issues of most concern to you, and explain why each is important to you.
Defense of the Constitution: People who seek to change the way our system functions to suit a more socialist agenda are picking away at the edges of this great document. As a veteran, I have taken an oath to defend the constitution. I will continue to do so when elected. Treatment of Veterans: The treatment of veterans is important to me because I am a veteran. The service veterans receive recently hit an all-time low with secret waiting lists that allowed veterans to die before seeing a Dr. This cannot be the way we show our gratitude to the 1% of our nation who stood for our freedom. Repeal and Replace Obamacare: Obama has stated that the Affordable Care Act will help the 30 million people who are without insurance. He didn’t tell us how badly it would punish everyone else. The proper way would have been to address the needs of those 30 million people rather than damage the healthcare of the rest of America. I will work to get Obama care repealed and replaced.
17. Should abortion be allowed under extenuating circumstances? If so, what circumstances?
Abortion is a horrible thing and I am opposed to it. If the life of the woman is in peril or if she was raped we have to allow them to make the decision whether to proceed with the pregnancy or not on their own. Abortion should not be used as birth control or gender selection which are its main uses.
18. Based on the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution, please arrange the following entities, starting with the highest source of authority, and continue the list in descending order of authority, skipping any that do not apply: Academia, Congress, Constitution, God, Industry, Media, Professional Sports, Supreme Court, Voters.
God (From whom morality is defined), Voters (Whom the following serve), Constitution (Binds and defines America), Congress (A body of the people), Supreme Court (Ensures the constitution and the laws of the people are not violated)
19. Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a Christian who believes in God. I don't believe the Ten Commandments are open to interpretation. I know I have sinned as all men do, but I admit my faults and errors, take responsibility for them and try very hard not to repeat them. I believe religion should not be forced into the shadows but should be openly displayed and was not intended to be removed from government (Read the federalist Papers and you will understand). Despite what the left would tell you, hearing the word of God will not harm you.
