Madison described in The Federalist No. 51 how human nature could be marshaled to protect liberty, saying "[T]he great security against a gradual concentration of the several powers in the same department, consists in giving to those who administer each department, the necessary constitutional means, and personal motives to resist encroachments of the others."

20. Should abortion be allowed under extenuating circumstances? If so, what circumstances?
Although there are many ways to fertilize an egg, not all are ethically or morally acceptable -- and some, like rape or incest, are truly reprehensible and indeed, physically sickening to think about. Some methods we can completely control, such as SCNT for cloning. Unfortunately, we can't stop every man from sexually violating every woman. Nevertheless, we need always to remember that abortion is killing a human fetus, and such killing is illegal.
21. Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I believe in the Apostle's Creed and the EFCA Statement of Faith, which can be found here: http://stpaulsefree.org/about/beliefs
