Pretty simple really...I know why I'm here. I have never had a "great conversion" as many in public life have. I have always felt comfortable with my relationship to God as a conservative Roman Catholic...in good standing I think. I truly believe that the ten years I have spent in public office have brought me closer to God. With a last name like Heavens (it's the 7th word in the Bible), what else could I do? From a practical view, there three things everyone holding the public trust needs to be able to do: Know the difference between right and wrong, know the difference between black ink and red ink and cultivate the ability and to make quality decisions.
