Having endured life as a subject to an absolute monarch, I believe the founding fathers realized to establish the republic, they needed to define the rights of man and the role of government. Wisely, they recognized that when government expands, it can negatively impact its citizens. Recognizing that citizens are endowed by their Creator, certain inalienable rights, our founding fathers wanted to create a document recognizing these rights while ensuring a stable government.

19. Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I was raised in the Episcopal Church, serving as an acolyte and attending youth group as many of my friends did in their churches. Perhaps like many children, I learned the teachings and philosophy of the church and unsure how or why I was required to learn these lessons. Upon entering adulthood, slowly I began to realize why these lessons are important -- they make you a better person and citizen in your community. Regardless of religious background, religious teachings serve as a foundation for someone. Recognizing the ability to help your fellow citizen, volunteering, and fellowship are all key components of the church, and they should also be key components in the community.
