15. Briefly list three (3) political or legislative issues of most concern to you, and explain why each is important to you.
I want to stop the Trans-Pacific Partnership, which is supported not just by Obama but by the Washington establishment. It threatens our sovereignty and jobs. We also need to reorient our tax policy away from obsessing over the income tax, capital gains tax, and estate tax, towards cutting payroll taxes and boosting the earned-income tax credit. We need to build on Reagan's bridgehead into the working class and celebrate his 1986 tax reform that took millions off the tax rolls, rather than making smug remarks about a shiftless, parasitic "47 percent." I also support radical intellectual property reform. We need to repeal the unconstitutional, European-style copyright system that Hollywood has imported, and return to the copyright terms of our Founding Fathers. We also need patent reform, to foster innovation and thus JOBS. Although there are certainly other important issues, these causes are being neglected in the current Congress, so I can make my mark by attending to them
16. Should abortion be allowed under extenuating circumstances? If so, what circumstances?
Abortion to save the life of the mother would remain technically illegal as a moral statement, but would carry no penalties. In cases of rape, also, the mother would not be subject to penalties. The abortionist would face penalties if he charged money. If he is acting out of compassion for a victim, he should not take money. On the other hand, if he treated the case as just another abortion, he should be charged the same way as he would in any other case.
17. 18. Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I have read the Bible and consider myself a Christian believer. However, I do not know if my faith has inwardly transformed me, so I do not call myself born-again. That spiritual status is desirable, just not one I am sure I have attained. Like everyone, I will find out whether I'm written in the book of life or not.
