14. What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers within the Constitution?

The nature of man is bent on overstepping or trying to gain power and control. Our Founding Fathers realized this tendency and placed safeguards in our Constitution to limit that fault in man. The Constitution was carefully drafted to define exactly what each branch of the government was authorized to do and limit its influence over the other branches. The terms to describe this would be “balance of power” or “checks and balances” between the three branches.

15. Briefly list three (3) political or legislative issues of most concern to you, and explain why each is important to you.

Job creation begins with people not the government. A people who depend solely on the government for jobs is not truly free. The government's role is to prohibit dumping of foreign products in the U.S. and regulating trade agreements, so that companies don't move their operations out of the U.S. for lower wages and less regulatory oversight. Obamacare has two major unintended consequences: first, many of the 30 million individuals who had no insurance don't want insurance at any price, fewer than expected individuals are applying for subsidized insurance. Second, companies are figuring out how to circumvent the law by moving people from full-time to part-time employment, thus hurting families who need all the income they can get. Good legislation transcends time. If the role out of a law is delayed multiple times, it's probably bad legislation. The judicial branch of government is overreaching it's Constitutional boundaries. It must be reigned in.

16. Should abortion be allowed under extenuating circumstances? If so, what circumstances?

I believe that abortion destroys a child’s life. This matter must not be taken lightly. God created human beings in His image, so when we destroy innocent, helpless children, what does that say about our society? With today’s understanding of the human body and ways to prevent pregnancies, abortions should be virtually non-existent, but they are not. While there may be situations in which the wellbeing of the mother must be weighed against that of the child, such as rape, incest and life of the mother, government bears the responsibility to prevent the taking of a child’s life for the sake of convenience.

17. Based on the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution, please arrange the following entities, starting with the highest source of authority, and continue the list in descending order of authority, skipping any that do not apply: Academia, Congress, Constitution, God, Industry, Media, Professional Sports, Supreme Court, Voters.

God, people, Constitution, Congress. God created men equal with unalienable rights. The government derives it's power from the consent of the people.

18. Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a born again Christian who holds a biblical worldview. A biblical world view means that I make decisions based upon God’s word, the Bible. God, not man, has the ultimate and final say on any issue. Our country was founded by godly men who too believed this to be true. Our Judeo-Christian principals guided our founding fathers when constructing the frame work of our government.
