OTHER INFORMATION

QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Agree

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.

Strongly Agree

I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.

Strongly Agree

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

Ideally there would be no abortions, but if we restricted it to be legal only in the case of the grave physical health of the mother,(which some physicians believe is never truly necessary), rape or incest, then the percentage of abortions would fall dramatically by the hundreds of thousands. This would be far preferable to the numbers we see now where abortion is used as birth control. In the case of rape or incest, the child is innocent and I would hope the mother would choose life, but if we do not agree to that option I fear we would lose a great deal of support for this type of legislation.

ECONOMY

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.

Strongly Disagree

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

How would you guarantee Social Security benefits for future generations?

The best way to guarantee the solvency of Social Security is to stop our country from becoming a Socialist nation. We can meet our fiscal obligations if we keep our economy strong. Socialism is a sure way to kill economic growth.

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

I would reduce foreign aid to countries who are not our reliable allies.

Under what circumstances should taxpayers help pay off existing student loans?

This is a very unfortunate situation created by the Obama Administration. I feel for the students who find themselves in financial bondage. I also cannot expect taxpayers to bail them out. What a mess. Perhaps restructuring the loans, smaller payments, lower interest rates. I am not sure what can be done. I am open to ideas.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Strongly Agree

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

Strongly Agree

I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.

Yes

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

It means that the Government will not impose any religion on citizens.

HEALTHCARE

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.

Strongly Disagree

I support the elimination of private healthcare insurance.

Strongly Disagree

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

I believe the best way to provide quality healthcare is to remove the restrictions under which companies can do business. Because of an executive order by President Trump and the abolishment of many of the Obamacare regulations I have been able to buy healthcare in NC for about half of the cost that we previously paid BCBSNC. Our rates went from just over $1,000 a month to around $500 a month. Also the coverage is significantly better. This has been a game changer for my family. But it is still too high in my opinion.

NATIONAL SECURITY

The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.

Strongly Agree

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of radical Islamic terrorism?

As with any serious threat, law enforcement agencies should work together to combat those who would endanger the American people.

IMMIGRATION

I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

Strongly Agree

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) should be abolished.

Strongly Disagree

State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.

Strongly Agree

Employers should be required to use E-verify to confirm the eligibility of their employees to work in the United States.

Strongly Agree

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

I like the proposal by President Trump to accept immigrants based on their ability to contribute in a positive way to our society. However I also believe we need a strong guest worker program that is unrelated to immigration. An asylum program should also be in place, but I believe other countries should help with refugees when possible.

EDUCATION

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Strongly Disagree

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Strongly Agree

I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.

Disagree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

When I was a child my Mother explained to me that God not only loves me, but He is present wherever I am. I learned later that He also knows my thoughts and motives. This has served as a great reminder to always choose to do good. When I was in the eighth grade I prayed to receive Christ as my savior at a Lay Witness Mission at my church. Over the years I have sought His guidance in my life. I believe in treating other people the way I would like to be treated. When I pray, I use the acronym ACTS, adopted from my involvement in Mom's in Touch: Adoration, confession, thanksgiving, supplication. Of course the word "HElP" is also a useful prayer when needed! And there is nothing that will improve your prayer life like running for office.

ABOUT YOU

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Conservative

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

I am a registered Republican and have been active in the party for many years. I have volunteered for conservative candidates, such as Dan Forest for Lt. Governor, and Jim Puckett for County Commissioner. I have also worked for candidates who ran as conservatives but who turned out not to be. Senator Tillis comes to mind. I have served as a delegate, precinct chairman, and poll observer. I have staffed the polls, handed out palm cards, put out signs, phone banked, and walked door to door. I have attended four NC State Conventions, County Conventions and District Conventions. I have run for office previously as a Republican. I have also written articles in support of conservative causes.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

I am not running to be THE Senator from North Carolina, I am running to be YOUR Senator from North Carolina. I will make it a priority to provide better access to ALL citizens. I am not supported financially by any special interests. I work for you! I believe we can do better than the current office holder. I would appreciate your vote on March 3.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.

Strongly Agree

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

Enforce current laws, improve database capabilities as needed.

OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

I support BDS (boycott, divestment, and sanction) against Israel if they refuse to allow the creation of a Palestinian state.

Strongly Disagree

I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.

Disagree

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

Strongly Disagree

The Electoral College should be abolished.

Strongly Disagree

In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?

I would ban funding infrastructure projects using public-private partnerships that steal from taxpayers and benefit politicians and investors. The "Obamacare of transportation", these schemes use long contracts that are almost impossible to break. I would make it unlawful for universities and other organizations to discriminate against hiring someone with regard to their political party affiliation if they receive federal dollars. I would put a cap on the size of school districts.

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

Some crimes can be attributed to racism, whether against whites, blacks, Jews or other races. All crimes are a threat to our domestic security.
