15. What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers within the Constitution?

Centralized power can quickly lead to abuse, waste, and corruption by those in power. This is a direct threat against individual liberty. The founding fathers wisely designed a system of independent checks and balances between the executive, legislative, and judicial branches of government.

16. Briefly list three (3) political or legislative issues of most concern to you, and explain why each is important to you.

Rule of law - one of the founding principles of our country is the rule of law, not of men. Our laws are to be consistent with natural law and applicable to all. This gives stability and predictability to our society. Today, too much power is centralized at the federal level, laws are arbitrarily enforced, and the branches of the federal government are not dutifully holding each of the other branches in check. The size and scope of the federal government must be reduced. (ex: Obamacare, IRS, Immigration) Regulation Overreach - rule making authority by agencies created by the federal government often go unchecked. (ex: EPA) Budget/debt/spending - Our US budget now has 85% of mandatory spending and 43% of each dollar goes to entitlement programs. With a debt of greater than $17 Trillion dollars, fiscal restraint has to be restored.

17. Should abortion be allowed under extenuating circumstances? If so, what circumstances?

Threat of death to the mother or in-utero sibling (such as in the case of certain conjoined situations).

18. Based on the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution, please arrange the following entities, starting with the highest source of authority, and continue the list in descending order of authority, skipping any that do not apply: Academia, Congress, Constitution, God, Industry, Media, Professional Sports, Supreme Court, Voters.

Our liberties come from God and governments are instituted by the consent of the governed (the people). The U.S. Constitution defines the structure of the 3 branches of government which have separate power (executive, legislative, and judicial).

19. Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

My Christian beliefs are best summed up in the scripture John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.“ God created men to be free and able to choose to follow Jesus Christ.
