18. What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers within the Constitution?
Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power tends to corrupt absolutely. After having lived under a monarchy with a weak legislature the founders had the wisdom and foresight to craft a balance of powers so no one branch or person had too much power. It might cause frustration at times but it is the best solution ever developed to preserve freedom.
19. Based on the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution, please arrange the following entities, starting with the highest source of authority, and continue the list in descending order of authority, skipping any that do not apply: Academia, Congress, Constitution, God, Industry, Media, Professional Sports, Supreme Court, Voters.
God, Constitution, Voters, Congress, Supreme Court.
20. Should abortion be allowed under extenuating circumstances? If so, what circumstances?
The only time an abortion should be allowed is in the very rare circumstance that delivering the baby will cause death or great bodily harm to the mother. The state has an interest in protecting the life of the unborn, however the state can not force a mother to die for her child. Great bodily harm should be a narrow definition as harm that would be life altering, not something trivial like temporary pain or discomfort.
21. Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
As a practicing Roman Catholic I believe in God, that he sent his son Jesus Christ to us for our sins, and each of us has a free will do follow His path or to depart from it.
