14. What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?
Because so much power is centered in DC, our nation's Capitol is a hotbed of corruption. Too often our representatives seek their own interests over the interests of their constituents. It is therefore vital to maintain a distinct and clear separation of powers between the three branches of government. Government must be accountable and "of the people." This can only be accomplished with a system of checks and balances - a premise our nation's Founders recognized when drafting the Constitution.

15. Briefly list three (3) political or legislative issues of most concern to you, and explain why each is important to you.
There is not a single issue that Americans care about more than the state of our economy. We’ve come a long way since the recession first hit, but we must continue to advance policies that bolster economic development, cut regulatory red tape, and ensure that taxes don’t rob the middle class of their hard-earned savings. We must also address our growing national debt. The tax-and-spend brand of politics that has become commonplace for our government is unacceptable. We must instead work to ensure balanced budgets and responsible, accountable spending of tax revenue. In addition to strengthening private sector growth and capping our nation’s out-of-control spending, I will focus on addressing our country’s growing illegal immigration problem. America’s immigration policy must be addressed for its deficiencies and updated to reflect 21st Century realities. Addressing illegal immigration is critical because the drug war in Mexico must not be allowed to spill over to the United Stat
