Strongly Disagree
14. What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers within the Constitution?
Man is inherently good, but power corrupts. The intent was to prevent a large centralized government and through separation of powers to prevent tyranny. Our country was originally founded as a Republic, not a pure democracy, but has evolved through the years. A pure democracy as you mention above is simply a dictatorship of a simple majority over the minority.
15. Briefly list three (3) political or legislative issues of most concern to you, and explain why each is important to you.
Debt/balanced budgets - Our national debt is the greatest threat to our national security. It is unconstitutional to tax future generations. Per capita the national debt is nearing $55,000, and is going nowhere but up. Tax Reform - The IRS is out of control and needs to be cut down to size. There are many ways to go to a flatter, fairer tax without hurting the economy. The Federal Reserve - Continues to create money out of thin air. This has devalued our dollar. The United States needs to return to the Gold Standard.
16. Should abortion be allowed under extenuating circumstances? If so, what circumstances?
Circumstances that lead to the necessity of an abortion should be left to the parents, their Dr. and their God. I am personally pro-life, but do not have a medical degree so I cannot say who could or should. Only that taxpayer dollars should not be used under any circumstance to provide for abortion. Abortion beyond the first trimester is very bothersome to me.
17. Based on the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution, please arrange the following entities, starting with the highest source of authority, and continue the list in descending order of authority, skipping any that do not apply: Academia, Congress, Constitution, God, Industry, Media, Professional Sports, Supreme Court, Voters.
God, Voters, Constitution, Congress. The Supreme Court has no authority and was created to settle disputes among the states, NOT to interpret the U.S. Constitution.
18. Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I belong to the Grace Tabernacle Church in Laconia Indiana, which is Pentecostal. I was baptized Catholic. I have belong to a Methodist Church. I am more of a spiritual being than religious person. I believe it is much more important to have a relationship with GOD than it is to have a relationship with a congregation.
