14. What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers within the Constitution?
Man is essentially evil and our Founders believed that we should not allow any one man or branch of government to have absolute power which is why they created a division of powers between 3 branches to check one another. The people are the final check on tyrannical government. The Constitution was meant to be a chain on government preventing it from restricting the rights of it's citizens.
15. Briefly list three (3) political or legislative issues of most concern to you, and explain why each is important to you.
1. The issue of abortion is similar to the evils of slavery that was once legal in America. I will support the Life at Conception Act in order to overturn Roe V. Wade. 2. Neo-cons have taken over our foreign policy and bled our treasury dry with misguided wars in Iraq, Libya, Kosovo and recently wanted to give aid to our enemy Al Qaeda in Syria. We cannot afford to be the policeman of the world and must focus on protecting our own borders. We must also end all foreign aid to countries that persecute Christian minorities. 3. We must also reform our Tax system as the IRS is the biggest impediment to economic growth. I support HR 25 which is the Fair Tax and would abolish the IRS and replace it with a national sales tax. Currently our tax system embeds a hidden 22% tax on all domestically produced goods making imports cheap and inflating American made goods. The Fair Tax would level the playing field for our manufacturers and bring a tsunami of jobs back to the US.
16. Should abortion be allowed under extenuating circumstances? If so, what circumstances?
Abortion should be allowed for the life of the mother.
17. Based on the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution, please arrange the following entities, starting with the highest source of authority, and continue the list in descending order of authority, skipping any that do not apply: Academia, Congress, Constitution, God, Industry, Media, Professional Sports, Supreme Court, Voters.
God, Constitution, Voters, Congress, Supreme Court, Media, Industry, Academia, Professional Sports
18. Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a Christian who places my salvation in Christ. I have taught Sunday School and try to read Our Daily Bread every morning. I believe that marriage is between one man and one woman and that families are the basic building block of society.
