Self-interest. The separation of and limitation of powers were defined by the Founders to explicitly protect the citizenry from a government or leaders that would over-reach in an effort to maintain or enhance policies that are self-interested. There are limitations and separations of powers in our form of government to ensure that no one branch, agency or person has ultimate and unchecked power.

19. Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I believe that our country and state moving away from God's teachings. The only way to salvation is through Jesus Christ. The slow erosion of spirituality and following of the word of God is having an impact on the direction of our country. Romans 13 discusses about how God has appointed our leaders for a reason and they are to be obeyed as such; likewise, our leaders should be prayed for and held with respect of the office they have bestowed. Too many times, our leaders are swayed and tempted by the popular opinion rather than what is right or what God teaches. I want to be the leader that can be trusted to what is right and seeks God's guidance for wisdom.
