Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
None. Life is sacred and killing a child, regardless of the circumstances, is barbaric. As to the question of choosing between the life of the mother and the life of the child, it must be understood that studies in the U.S., South America and Israel indicate that this is a very rare event. Nevertheless, an equal effort should be made to save the lives of both individuals.
What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of radical Islamic terrorism?
Eradicating the threat begins at home. The United States should vet every person who wishes to enter this country. A lack of documentation should be grounds to prevent entry. Furthermore, we should pursue any and all threats that originate from outside our country. This does not mean we police the world, but it does mean we work with our allies to eradicate the threat and help them to change their immigration policies that encourage Islamic terrorism and ultimately threaten the United States.
What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?
Man can accomplish great things when honest and free. However, man is no angel. The Founders recognized this weakness in human nature and guarded against it through limiting the power of government and separating the powers, in such a way, that each has the authority to check the others. Our Founders secured, to the best of their ability, a system by which one person, or one branch of government cannot make important decisions alone.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a Catholic. As a Christian, I value religious freedom and free speech. I reject any attempt by the government to discriminate against an individual for their religious beliefs.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?
Very Conservative
Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.
I am a constitutional conservative who supports the original meaning and intent of the Constitution. This is the basis for the rule of law. I am a fiscal conservative who believes that taxes are too high and government spending is out of control. I support a balanced budget amendment. If elected, I will never vote for a tax increase, nor will I vote for a budget bill unless spending is less than the prior year. I've read the budget. There is no reason to spend more or tax more in my lifetime. No reason whatsoever.
How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
Obamacare must be repealed. Our healthcare insurance should be free market based, allowing for interstate competition and customized policies. Both will increase competition and lower costs. I believe hospitals and clinics should publish their prices. Consumers need choices and easy ways to make comparisons between providers. More mid-level medical professionals should be used for routine diagnosis and treatment. Lastly, the entire process needs simplified from a paperwork standpoint. A patient should receive one bill that includes all services, not multiple invoices from every department or doctor in the system. Expensive and unnecessary tests can be reduced through proper tort reform. If we create the environment for low cost healthcare coverage, health insurance will once again be a standard part of the benefit package for both part-time and full-time employees as it once was. We would continue to provide for the elderly and disabled.
What role should government play in boosting the economy?
The best thing the government can do to boost the economy is to get out of the way. I'm a businessman. I've see how the government has over-regulated to the point where its difficult for new businesses to start-up and sometimes impossible for small businesses to stay in business. The government does not directly boost the economy. However, it can reduce regulations, remove laws, and eliminate tariffs. It can lower business and personal taxes, and it can cut its own spending. The economy works best in a free market when the government eliminates obstacles to a healthy economy.
What changes should be made to the tax code?
The tax code needs a complete overhaul. Its far too complicated and rates must be lowered for both individuals and businesses. The recent tax cuts were a good start. The middle class benefited almost immediately in the form of bonuses, raises and new job creation. Businesses saw a boost to their cash flow which they are investing into their employees and businesses. The death tax must be eliminated and federal fees, which are taxes under a different name, must be eliminated or substantially reduced.
What is the best way to bring down unemployment?
Cut federal spending, lower personal and business income taxes, transition to a free market healthcare system, and eliminate the unnecessary regulations that limit every industry. Businesses will grow and expand when free to do so. Also, incentivize businesses to train and hire for the jobs they create. This can begin in vocational schools and continue through apprenticeships and continuing education for employees.
How would you guarantee Social Security benefits for future generations?
The federal government needs to repay borrowed funds and move to separate entitlements from the basic program. This is why the federal government must stop borrowing. I have a proposal for a modified program I call "Social Security Plus". It is 100% self-funded and works a lot like a 401K or IRA, and studies show it has the potential to provide a higher retirement income than traditional Social Security. The idea is to keep Social Security as we know it, but give individuals a choice between the two programs, much like state employees in Ohio can opt out of Social Security. I do not favor raising the retirement age nor do I support any reductions in benefits. I believe the Social Security program can be fixed.
What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?
I have a degree in Architecture from the College of Engineering from Ohio State and am a faculty member at a local college. I founded companies in architecture, construction, real estate investment and software. I have been on the Board of Directors of a nationally ranked company for 18 years, where I oversaw the ownership transition from the company founder to employees, or ESOP. I've participated on numerous boards, community efforts and charities. I am on the Board of Governors for the OSU Knowlton School Alumni Organization, serving as Chair of the Endowment and Scholarship Committee. I've fought to defend the constitution and helped write bills. My experience is perfect for U.S. Congress. I create and manage budgets, negotiate solutions between individuals with competing priorities and am known as a tough negotiator. My ability to lead, and to never back down on core principles, come directly from my experience in business and conservative activism.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?
Our federal budget is a mess, taxes are too high, our military desperately needs upgrades in equipment and training, border security, immigration reform and the opioid epidemic are at crisis levels. The Constitution is under attack. In Ohio's 12th District, we need good paying manufacturing jobs with benefits. We need working taxpayers, not more tax takers. I grew up poor in Appalachia and earned everything I have. I overcame a lack of money through opportunities and hard work. Recently I survived the great recession, the collapse of my biggest client, as well as a leukemia diagnosis. Three major events that set me back financially. I not only survived, but I worked myself back. I want the residents in my district to have the same opportunities I had and I will fight to the end to change the way Congress works. I am a citizen candidate. My district comes first. I do what I say I will do.
