15. Briefly list three (3) political or legislative issues of most concern to you, and explain why each is important to you.

1) Excessive public debt crowds out productive private investment and burdens current and future generations with high taxes to pay interest and principal on the debt. 2) Congress alone should make laws and coin money, not the executive or judicial branches of the federal government, nor private banking cartels like the Federal Reserve. 3) Excessive taxes and regulation violate private property rights and reduce people's willingness to overproduce and create a rising tide of new wealth that lifts all boats, large and small.

16. Should abortion be allowed under extenuating circumstances? If so, what circumstances?

Yes, within the first trimester of pregnancy, and after that when the health of the mother is in danger and the child is not yet viable outside of the womb. I am pro life by choice and my goal is to reduce abortion, but evidence shows that making abortion completely illegal does not reduce abortion rates. I would prefer that abortion policy be set at the state level rather than the federal, so that a more varied balance between the reproductive rights of women and the right to life of the unborn will be sought. I would also prevent any taxpayer money from funding abortion or family planning, as well as prevent any restrictions on private efforts to promote family planning, pregnancy services and adoption services.

18. Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a Christian, and believe that our rights to life, liberty and property come from God and not from government. God gave us a free will and therefore religious laws should not be encoded into secular law; I believe in a Constitutional separation of church and state. Religious goals and moral behavior are best advocated by preaching, missionary and charity work, and the modeling of moral personal behavior.
