Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
It should not be permitted under any circumstances. Furthermore, it's not enough to just hold an anti-abortion viewpoint. We need to make a concerted, public push to engage proponents of abortion. We need to force them to address the question of when life begins, we need to intentionally use language that gives dignity to all stages of life (conception to death), and we need to promote the science that acknowledges the beginning of life with a flash of light at conception. Pro-life advocates spend too much time defending their beliefs and engaging in straw man arguments; it's time to move beyond rhetoric and actively push to protect the unborn.
What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?
Man’s inherently selfish nature that perpetually hungers for more power is why America's Founders carefully defined, separated, and limited powers in the Constitution.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I’m a conservative, evangelical Christian who believes the Bible is the inspired Word of God, that all people—including the unborn—are created in the image of God, and that God is sovereign over all the affairs of man.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?
Very Conservative
Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.
Looking at my history of public posts, whether it be on the website (jdwinteregg.com), social media, or in newspapers, you will see a consistent, conservative viewpoint on all of the issues.
What is the best way to bring down unemployment?
To help bring down unemployment, Representatives need to address the government interventions, mandates, and rules influencing our economic and social sectors. Taxes like the CAT (Commercial Activity Tax) and other regulations on businesses remove capital that they could use to hire new workers. Representatives need to work for laws that allow businesses to keep more of their money--and remove inhibiting regulations--to give them the opportunity to make new hires. On the social side, we need to remove the rules and regulations that make it difficult for willing workers to find jobs. Too many get caught in a cycle of hopelessness and resign themselves to accepting government aid. The Representative needs to use the seat to publicly promote private solutions to pull people out of this cycle, and highlighting private community programs and churches as ways to move upward is an important responsibility the Representative needs to acknowledge and exercise.
How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
The best way to ensure our healthcare coverage is adequate, affordable, and accessible is to allow the free market to work uninhibited by government intervention. Mandates, subsidies, and efforts by the government to provide coverage result in higher prices, less transparency of costs for consumers, and an unfair advantage of some companies over others. We need to do what we can as representatives to allow the market to work competitively and fairly so consumers can have the affordable access they need. As a State Representative, I believe it would be my responsibility to use my seat to highlight and promote the private possibilities and solutions that exist for constituents to get better coverage and care.
What role should government play in boosting the economy?
It's not job of the government to assume responsibility in boosting our economy. While it serves a purpose to ensure fair market competition (no industry-wide price fixing, etc.), the government needs to look at the barriers they've placed, unintended or otherwise, that serve as inhibitors to growth within businesses or barriers to consumption for consumers.
What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?
In our district, education, agriculture, and small businesses are important areas to voters. In this race, since 1982, I am the only candidate with experience in the K-12 public schools, whether it be as a student or a teacher. Coupled with my personal educational experience in liberal academia, I know exactly what we need to be addressing in the public schools to fight the pervasive progressive agenda. I know what to anticipate as far as dealing with teachers' unions, and I know what politicians in Columbus are doing to gloss over the fact that they're pushing for state control of our educational system. This knowledge and experience within our educational system is sorely needed in Columbus, as what happens in education can and does affect the agricultural and small business sectors as well. Within ag, I have been a leader in Farm Bureau as a county Trustee, and within small business, I deal with the stifling regulations daily that affect the small business where I work.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?
In 2012, I was enrolled in doctoral level classes in teacher education (teaching teachers to teach). In the general educational classes, I was explicitly told (and the mandated readings underlined) that my role as a teacher was no longer to impart knowledge and skills on students, but I was supposed to work to create activists for social justice. Social justice in academia is defined by anything that can break apart an oppressive Capitalist economic system. According to academia, a main driver of Capitalism is the Christian family unit, and that needed to be targeted as well. To fight this agenda so contrary to my values, I dropped out of the doc program and vowed to fight it. By electing me as a State Rep, you get more than just a conservative. You get someone who is completely aware of what liberals intend to do to attack our values and beliefs, you get someone who knows their game plan, and you get someone who will fight it in the most effective and efficient way possible.
