OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

Congress should repeal the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare).

Disagree

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Agree

I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

Agree

The U.S. military should wait for militant Islamic groups to directly threaten our national security on our shores, rather than eradicate them now wherever they may be worldwide.

Strongly Disagree

The United States must maintain a nuclear arsenal that is safe, reliable, modern and numerically superior to those of potential adversaries.

Strongly Disagree

I support legislation such as the First Amendment Defense Act (FADA) that would prohibit discrimination against individuals, organizations and small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Strongly Disagree

The federal government should establish Common Core as a nationwide academic standard for high school graduation.

Disagree

I oppose the resettlement of Syrian refugees into the U.S. without proper vetting.

Strongly Agree

Current regulations on domestic oil exploration and drilling are more restrictive than are necessary.

Disagree

It is the government’s responsibility to be sure everyone has health care and a livable income.

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which permitted our system of limited government.

Strongly Disagree

Governments should pay to develop wind and solar energy solutions until they are economically feasible.

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

For the protection of the life of the mother.

What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?

Mankind is attracted to power, power corrupts and too much power in government is very corrupting.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a Protestant and Bible believer. I believe that mankind is separated from God by sin and that our sins are forgiven by the grace of God through the blood of Jesus Christ for those who accept Christ as their Savior. People of other faiths or no faith will also stand before God, and God will deal with all of us with His infinite wisdom and the promise of righteous judgment tempered by His grace and mercy.

Considering all issues (social, economic, national security, etc.), which of these best describes you?

Conservative

Please defend your answer to the previous question by referencing your publicly available track record.

In my positions as a Kalamazoo County Commissioner and as a Michigan State Representative, I was a leader in controlling spending and balancing budgets. As a business owner I have to manage expenses and revenue, and I have created a very profitable company with 300 employees. I support marriage equality for our gay friends, neighbors and family members, because I believe the constitution gives us the right to marry the person we love.

Additional comment from candidate:

My three priorities are: 1. Our national debt is immoral and we should as a nation balance our budget and pay off our debt. 2. Force taxpayers support of other people's children is unconstitutional and I have offered proposals to discourage the birth of children to parents who are unable to financially and emotionally support a family - leaving the taxpayers to do so. 3. We need to secure better management of government by giving a priority to management talent when we elect politicians and staff our government agencies.
