14. What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers within the Constitution?
I believe the founders realized the natural tendency of groups to make decisions that individuals would not make. The separation of powers limits the scope of each group and creates a natural check on the group dynamic. In question 12 it is stated that the founders established a pure democracy. That is not true we are a representative democracy.
15. Briefly list three (3) political or legislative issues of most concern to you, and explain why each is important to you.
1. Debt is the greatest existential threat to the nation. It is a disease that lays waste to even the most powerful of nations. Debts are always reckoned through either payment in kind or pain and misery to the masses. Coupled with a Fiat currency debt becomes largely illusory to the people and the government right up until the point that it collapses the economy. 2. Lack of codified limits on revenue and spending. Many conservatives believe that we do not have a revenue problem we have a spending problem. This is not true. If governments were Constitutionally limited on taxes and debt they would be forced to curtail spending. 3. Social spending rots a society. Cradle to grave security in food, shelter and health care removes the internal motivation for personal responsibility. This pulls at the moral fabric of society and causes widespread problems.
16. Should abortion be allowed under extenuating circumstances? If so, what circumstances?
I believe abortion should only be allowed in cases of rape, incest or the mother's health.
17. Based on the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution, please arrange the following entities, starting with the highest source of authority, and continue the list in descending order of authority, skipping any that do not apply: Academia, Congress, Constitution, God, Industry, Media, Professional Sports, Supreme Court, Voters.
1. Constitution 2. Voters 3. Congress 4. Supreme Court Personally God is your highest form of authority.
18. Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I believe in God and I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. I do not believe that God wants us to be miserable. Looking through a microscope and looking through a telescope I see the same level of complexity and creation. God likes to create things. I think man can only be happy when he is creating as we ourselves are created in God's image. Creation and art go hand in hand. The more work that is involved the more beauty we see. I also believe firmly that God wants us to love one another. If there is a purpose to our lives I think it is to make life here on Earth as close to heaven as we are able. If our life's work is to make Earth more heavenly it is clearly an individual pursuit. We work as individuals to create a better world for ourselves, our families and our friends. We don't help others by living for them. The values one can derive from this our simple and clear. If we are to love one another we cannot of course steal from one another or harm one another.
