15. What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers within the Constitution?

The Founders believed that men are unable to resist the temptation to abuse the authority of political office, and so that authority must be divided and set against itself through checks and balances. This principle came largely from Montesquieu's "Spirit of the Laws," a treatise on the means of preserving liberty within a polity written in 1748.

16. Briefly list three (3) political or legislative issues of most concern to you, and explain why each is important to you.

1) The right to keep and bear arms - Self-defense is only legitimate use of force in a free society and the principle upon which just governments are founded. As a firearms manufacturer and owner of a gun store, I am very disturbed by the federal government's attempts to cripple America's greatest defenders - its armed populace. 2) Free market policies - We have seen the effects of socialism in the economies of Cold War China and the Soviet Union. We know that the free market has been responsible for all of America's past prosperity, and yet we continue to weigh down businesses with taxes and regulation. I am a 100% free-market advocate, and will fight to get rid of these roadblocks to prosperity. 3) Constitutional principles - This nation was founded on the principle that the only just government was one instituted to protect the natural rights endowed by God. We have strayed from that ideal, and I intend to defend the Constitution uncompromisingly against laws that violate it.

17. Should abortion be allowed under extenuating circumstances? If so, what circumstances?

I am 100% pro-life. In the case that pregnancy is an immediate threat to the mother's life, the mother, father, and doctor should be allowed to kill the child to save the mother, but only if doing otherwise would be fatal.

18. Based on the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution, please arrange the following entities, starting with the highest source of authority, and continue the list in descending order of authority, skipping any that do not apply: Academia, Congress, Constitution, God, Industry, Media, Professional Sports, Supreme Court, Voters.

God, Constitution, Voters (Congress and the Supreme Court have no authority except under the Constitution, so they get skipped)
