David A. Perdue

Perdue is pro-life. "As a father and grandfather, I believe every child is a blessing and will continue fighting to protect the unborn." He believes that life begins at conception. "I believe that we should promote a culture that values life and protects the innocent, especially the unborn. Being pro-life and believing in the sanctity of marriage are my deeply held personal convictions. I will not waver in defending them if I have the privilege of serving you in the U.S Senate." He co-sponsored a bill to implement equal protection under the 14th Amendment to the Constitution of the United States for the right to life of each born and preborn human person. He supported the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act. He also voted on an Senate amendment 3967 that would have denied federal funding to abortion providers.

Perdue supports the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act. "All life is worth protecting. It is unconscionable that a health care practitioner wouldn't do everything in their power to save a child in their first moments of life."

Senator Perdue co-sponsored the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, which prevents abortions after 20 weeks of development for any reason except to save the life of the mother or in cases of rape or incest.

Perdue does not believe that the government should provide everyone with a livable income.

He believes the way to improve the economy is to cut spending and get more people working which will in turn increase revenue. He supports no tax increase of any kind. He wants to replace income tax & estate tax with 23% sales tax,the Fair Tax Act of 2011. He strongly agrees that free enterprise and the right to private property turn mankind's natural self interest into the fairest and most productive economic system there is, and are the key to national prosperity. "I would absolutely vote for a balanced budget amendment. However, we need immediate tax and regulatory reforms along with appropriate spending cuts so that we have a right-sized, responsible budget sooner rather than later." He supports lowering corporate taxes as a means of promoting economic growth.

As a U.S. senator, I'm not going to get involved in state decisions like this. It's a constitutional amendment. If that changes, then I will support that with the population." Senator Perdue was a co-sponsor on the First Amendment Defense Act of 2015 that would have provided that the federal government "shall not take any discriminatory action against a person, wholly or partially on the basis that such person believes or acts in accordance with a religious belief or moral conviction that marriage is or should be recognized as the union of one man and one woman, or that sexual relations are properly reserved to such a marriage."

Co-sponsored S.2525 - First Amendment Defense Act in the 115th Congress. Sec. 2(4)of the bill states, "Protecting religious freedom from government intrusion is a government interest of the highest order. Perdue stands against Obamacare and any form of government-run healthcare. The burdensome requirements within Obamacare have caused healthcare costs to skyrocket for millions of Americans.  As a former fortune 500 CEO, he understands that competition in the healthcare marketplace is the best way to make high-quality healthcare plans affordable for all Americans.  He voted for the Health Care Freedom Act of 2017 which was a "skinny repeal" of Obamacare.

"I think the first thing is it’s a national security issue. Parts of that border need a wall. This president said we're going to build a wall, we'll build a wall, but let’s not miss this historic opportunity to fix this immigration system to better our economy."

Perdue supports ICE. "When an elected official says they want to get rid of ICE or CBP, I think they've failed their oath of office. It's unconscionable and frankly, I think it's downright unpatriotic."

Perdue does not support and wants to stop sanctuary cities. "Our bill makes it clear that criminal illegal immigrants will never find a safe haven in America."

Perdue is a co-sponsor of the Accountability Through Electronic Verification Act, which would ask all U.S. employers to use E-verify for employees.

Perdue supports the Reforming American Immigration for a Strong Economy Act (RAISE Act), which would "spur continued economic growth and raise working Americans' wages by giving priority to the best-skilled immigrants from around the world and reducing overall immigration levels".

Perdue attends Wesley United Methodist Church.

"Responsible changes to the federal criminal justice system should not allow dangerous felons, many of whom have multiple prior convictions for violent crimes, out of prison early."

Perdue supports background checks prior to gun ownership to "keep guns out of the hands of people who should not have them".

Senator Perdue opposes the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement and cosponsored the Israel Anti-Boycott Act and the Combating BDS Act of 2017, two bills that aim to fight discriminatory boycotts that target Israel.

"I'm not a doctor, but the only use of marijuana that I would support today would be the medical use of it."
