15. What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers within the Constitution?
The human nature of becoming hungry for more power once in power had led to tyrannical rulers throughout history. These Separation of Powers were designed to keep any one branch of the Federal Government from becoming more powerful than the other two through the checks and balances among the three branches.
16. Briefly list three (3) political or legislative issues of most concern to you, and explain why each is important to you.
The political issues of most concern to me also happen to be of the most concern among the thousands, and thousands, and thousands of residents I have met over the past 18 months as I knocked on doors throughout the 30+ cities, towns, and villages in Congressional District 22: Jobs & the economy, the divisiveness in Washington that has caused legislative gridlock, and the Federal debt & deficit spending. Having had a career entirely in construction & homebuilding in South Florida, I saw everyone's lives impacted by the housing collapse in 2008. The majority of those jobs never came back and so many people are still struggling to make ends meet. We've got to create an environment that gets companies hiring again and providing full-time jobs. We need to pass legislation on issues which we all can agree on such as properly providing for the healthcare of our veterans. We can't allow the Federal Debt to continue grow. We've got to balance our budget and then begin reducing the Debt.
17. Should abortion be allowed under extenuating circumstances? If so, what circumstances?
I agree with the legislation passed by Florida in 2011 with the exception: "In the case where a woman suffers from a physical disorder, injury or illness, including a life-endangering physical condition caused by or arising from the pregnancy, as certified by a physician, place the woman in danger of death unless an abortion is performed."
18.
