OTHER INFORMATION

QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Agree

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.

Strongly Agree

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

Every life is precious. I prefer abortion never be allowed but in the rare circumstance where the physician determined that the only way to save a mother's life was to terminate a pregnancy, then the opportunity to save her life should not be illegal.

ECONOMY

It is the government’s responsibility to be sure everyone has a livable income.

Disagree

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

The state constitution should limit the growth of spending to the rate of population growth plus the rate of inflation.

Neutral

Congress should pass a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution.

Agree

What is the best way to bring down unemployment?

To continue with the agenda of my administration. Cut Red Tape, create a more business friendly tax policy, attract job creators to our state. All this is being done under my leadership. We have broken records for economic development with multiple private sector business announcements. We are over $18 billion dollars in new investments under my administration and 50,000 new jobs. Most recently, this week, we announced over 400 new, high paying jobs. In short, facillitate the private sector's ability to do what it does so well, create jobs and grow the economy.

What role should government play in boosting the economy?

See my answer on bringing down unemployment. The two are one in the same.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Strongly Agree

Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.

Strongly Agree

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

Strongly Agree

HEALTHCARE

It is the government’s responsibility to be sure everyone has health insurance.

Disagree

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

Again, we are already doing that. Our Medicaid 1115 waiver, once implemented, will empower Kentuckians to have a say so in their healthcare. It will result in better health outcomes and save Kentucky taxpayers millions.

NATIONAL SECURITY

I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

Strongly Agree

Islamic law (Sharia) should take precedence over national and state laws where there are Islamic majority communities in the U. S.

Strongly Disagree

I support sanctuary cities.

Strongly Disagree

The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.

Agree

EDUCATION

Tuition-free public education should be guaranteed through college.

Disagree

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which permitted our system of limited government.

Strongly Agree

Any teaching to children on sex education in public schools must include all contraceptive methods, and should not show preference to abstinence.

Disagree

People should be allowed to use public restrooms, showers, and changing rooms based on "gender identity."

Strongly Disagree

Parents should be the primary authority in decisions affecting their minor children.

Strongly Agree

What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?

The founders understood the sin nature of man. That total power in any single entity would, in the end, be corrupting. That these in any single body or entity were given total power, the logical outcome would be tyranny.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a Christian. I have never hidden this including during my time as Governor. I have made it clear that my faith in Christ inspires me and motivates me and is the basis for my life.

ABOUT YOU

I voted in these primaries and general elections:

2010 General Election, 2010 Republican Primary, 2012 General Election, 2012 Republican Primary, 2014 General Election, 2014 Republican Primary, 2016 General Election, 2016 Republican Primary

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Very Conservative

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

My public record speaks for itself. My commitment to life, the dedication that the First Lady has shown for our state's foster children and for improving adoption, the way we have raised our own children and the family values we have publicly shared.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

My background as an Army officer, successful businessman and entrepreneur are all available on the Matt Bevin website. But the primary qualification is my track record as Governor since 2015. Pro-Life Pro-Jobs Outstanding record on economic development History making legislation to help foster children and adoption A good working relationship with the President and Vice President of the United States. Endorsed by both. Working to make Kentucky the most military friendly state in the nation.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

I am completely dedicated to helping Kentucky become the best version of itself. No governor has worked harder than I have during my first term. My administration has been extremely productive. My favorite aspect of the job of governor (which is not a fun job, but one I am willing to do with all my ability) is to sell people on what a wonderful place Kentucky is to live and to do business.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

I support the death penalty.

Agree

Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.

Agree

2ND AMENDMENT

More restrictive gun control is needed to protect public safety.

Strongly Disagree
