I support legislation to eliminate local school property taxes by supplanting it with future growth in state revenues. This should be a mandatory transition of no more that 10 years. I also support the elimination of the roll back property tax penalty when there is a change of use. This penalty prevents landowners from determining the highest and best use for their property. We should also cap growth on business property tax appraisals.

Texas has a balanced budget requirement already in place. We have had a balanced budget each of the years I have been in office. However, to further reduce and manage spending I would implement true zero based budgeting.

My legislative priorities are: Securing the Border - As a former cop, I know we must do whatever it takes to stop the influx of illegal immigrants, human trafficking and drug cartels. Protecting the Unborn - I believe that life begins at conception, that all life is a gift from God and that we have a duty to protect the unborn. Ensure Religious Liberty - The First Amendment unequivocally guarantees our freedom to worship and live out our faith in God without government interference. Lowering Property Taxes - You should not be taxed out of your homes. We need to immediately begin efforts to repeal property taxes. Election Integrity - Improvements in ballot security, through audits, is imperative. Also making election fraud a felony.
