OTHER INFORMATION

QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Agree

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.

Strongly Agree

I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.

Strongly Agree

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

Incest and life of the mother should be the only exceptions. Some people would say rape, but Conception usually does not occur in rape cases, but it should be considered as well.

ECONOMY

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.

Disagree

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

I would reduce many of the social welfare programs that have been enacted over the last 30 years. There is much duplication and even triplicating of state and federal welfare programs. I would also support de-funding of Planned Parenthood, no federal of state dollars for this entity.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Strongly Agree

Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.

Strongly Agree

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

Strongly Agree

I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.

Yes

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

The government should stay out of the church’s business and churches should stay out Of trying to run the government.. Church leaders should be allowed to speak their minds about public policy, just not from the pulpit.

HEALTHCARE

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.

Disagree

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

I believe that businesses should be given a tax CREDIT for providing health insurance for Employees.. Also, people should be strongly encouraged to set up HSAs to provide for Their own medical needs. Last but not least, a certain portion of employees health insurance premiums should be tax deductible as well. I do NOT believe in universal Health care for all.

NATIONAL SECURITY

The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.

Strongly Agree

IMMIGRATION

I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

Strongly Agree

State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.

Strongly Agree

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

Immigrants who have valid identification and that can be screened by our INS departments. I DO NOT support open borders or illegal immigration at all. Minors that are unaccompanied by parents should not be allowed in our country as well.

EDUCATION

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Strongly Disagree

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Agree

I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.

Disagree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I have been a practicing Christian all my life and was raised in a Christian home. I consider Jesus Christ as my Lord and savior. I am an active member of the First Presbyterian Church Of Colorado Springs and give financially for its missions to succeed around the world.

ABOUT YOU

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Conservative

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

As a State Representative in Colorado, I have a good conservative voting record. I am known as a Pro-Life, Pro-family and Pro-second Amendment Representative. People can check my voting record from 2005-12 and from 2017–present. I am proud of my endorsements and the groups that have supported me over the years.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

I have a PROVEN record of serving the constituents of my district for over 12 years. I have excellent experience in the private sector for over 33 years in the business world and over 12 years in the public sector.. I was ranking member of the business committee for 4 years and the Chairman for 2 years. I was also selected as “Legislator of the Year” in 2009 By the Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce. Over the years, I have received many awards by various industry groups for my good work on behalf of the public that I serve.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

NO

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

I have been a thoughtful and considerate leader for my District. I have live and worked with the citizens of my district. For over 50 years. The people of Senate 10 know me, they trust me and know that I am accessible to them. I listen to my Constituents and respond to their needs if at all possible. I respectfully ask for your vote for me as your senator from SD-10.

JUDICIAL PHILOSOPHY

I support the use of Sharia law as a basis for legislation and judicial decisions in the United States.

Strongly Disagree

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.

Agree

2ND AMENDMENT

Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?

Yes

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

None, except that felons should not be allowed to possess firearms after they get out of prison.

iVoterGuide Notes:

Candidate notified iVoterGuide after survey deadline: "I wanted to clarify that felons, who are convicted of 'violent crimes' should not be able to possess firearms. White collar felons should have the opportunity to possess firearms."

OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.

Disagree

The Electoral College should be abolished.

Strongly Disagree

In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?

1. Pro-business legislation that reduces regulatory burdens 2. Increased penalties for felons if they mis-use firearms 3. Support legislation that will help UCCS, which is in my district

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

Unfortunately, there is still racism in our country. I do think that the government, particularly at the federal level has gone overboard in passing laws that instill racial divisions. We would be a better country if racial issues were settled more at the local level, rather than one size fits all.
