OTHER INFORMATION
QUESTIONNAIRE
OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES
1. Free enterprise and the right to private property turn mankind's natural self interest into the fairest and most productive economic system there is, and is the key to national prosperity.
Agree
2. Government should enforce laws designed to protect the border and to prevent illegal entry of persons into the country.
Agree
3. Because evolution is widely accepted, students should not be taught about intelligent design.
Disagree
4. Free market competition for education dollars, rather than a government monopoly, would create a better education for all students.
Neutral
5. It is the government’s responsibility to be sure everyone has health care and a livable income.
Neutral
6. States should require voters to show photo identification and prove citizenship in order to register to vote or to cast a vote.
Agree
7. Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.
Neutral
8. Marriage is a union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.
Agree
9. Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which permitted our system of limited government.
Disagree
10. Pure democracy is the best form of government to ensure the safety and equitable treatment of all citizens.
Neutral
11. Who has the primary responsibility to be sure children are properly educated?
Parents
12. Should abortion be allowed under extenuating circumstances? If so, what circumstances?
That should be for God to decide, not lawmakers. I explain my position in detail on my website.
13. What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers within the Constitution?
The Founding Fathers knew the Constitution was not perfect; that was why they allowed for amendments. In the long run, I have deontological libertarianism as my goal; my plan is to reduce/eliminate the need for government micromanaging/intervention by empowering voters to resolve problems and make decisions on their own.
14. Based on the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution, please arrange the following entities, starting with the highest source of authority, and continue the list in descending order of authority, skipping any that do not apply: Academia, Congress, Constitution, God, Industry, Media, Professional Sports, Supreme Court, Voters.
If God exists, he is obviously first. Voters/individuals are second. (After all, I’m a deontological libertarian!) The Declaration of Independence, Constitution, Congress, and Supreme Court are merely institutions/documents created by individuals.
15. Please list, up to six in number, the endorsements (groups or individuals) you would most like to promote.
So far I have only received four endorsements; but this is not very surprising since I put voters ahead of lobbyists/special interest groups. I have received the endorsement of the American Federation of Teachers, Michigan AFSCME Council 25, the Michigan State AFL-CIO, and the Laborers’ Local 1191.
16. Please list your educational, military and vocational history, and any church and civic leadership positions held, and political positions held or sought.
This form didn’t allow comments/limited length; I’ll explain further here. I strongly defend private property; free enterprise is a good thing/responsible for prosperity. Yet laissez-faire policy isn’t the fairest; I support worker protections (minimum wages/overtime laws). If a U.S. citizen wants his/her brother/sister to come from Mexico, the brother/sister must currently wait 15 years before he/she can come legally. Voters, not lawmakers, should determine immigration policy. Students should be allowed to learn about evolution & intelligent design yet shouldn’t be forced to learn about them/tested regarding them. I oppose attempts to prevent parents from using private schools/homeschooling, yet a free education system is important to ensure everyone can be educated. I oppose government handouts but also believe citizens need to be able to EARN a livable income. I want to eliminate welfare/unemployment benefits and replace them with a work program.
17. What charitable, educational, religious, or political organizations have you been affiliated with as a member, contributor, or volunteer?
More... I prefer that people can afford to buy healthcare (rather than simply giving it to them). More details are on my website. Only citizens should vote. Two issues are stalling the photo ID issue: some seniors and recent movers can’t get identification. Fixing our processing system to resolve these matters quickly will fix this. Religions disagree about whether human life starts at conception. My website explains how we can let God permanently prove who is right. “Marriage” is a contractual agreement/partnership & only functions fully between a man & a woman. As a libertarian, it’s wrong to prohibit other civil unions, but ethical perspectives of adoption agencies, etc. should be respected. Judeo-Christian values influenced our government, but Deism deserves the credit for religious tolerance, etc. (see Deism.com). Democracy is nice, but only deontological libertarianism can be fully justified. It only works with an informed/empowered citizenry, so I want to work toward that.
