Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
I support abortion in cases involving pregnancy. Make love, not babies. Copulate, don't overpopulate. I support public funding for family planning programs, birth control, voluntary sterilization, and abortion for those who choose it. Human overpopulation and over-consumption threaten the ability of our planet to continue sustaining life. Deciding not to breed any more children is the most important way for the average person to practice personal and global responsibility.

I am an atheist and a humanist. I am a legally ordained minister of the Church of Spiritual Humanism. (Free online, lifetime ordination.) Sometimes, I identify myself as a member of the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster. I am also an officially canonized Saint of the Universal Life Church. In fact, I am Saint Gary, the Patron Saint of Provocative Quotations and Incorrect Song Lyrics. For example, Denis Diderot wrote: "Man will never be free until the last king is strangled with the entrails of the last priest." I consider theistic religions to be fundamentally absurd, patently false, and mostly harmful. Morality is based upon respect for the rights of others, and not upon appeals to power, authority, or threats of punishment.

The Green Party of Arizona didn't nominate a candidate for US Senate this year, so Boiling Frog Party candidate Gary Swing hopped into the Green Party's uncontested primary election to repurpose their ballot line. We are in the midst of the Sixth Mass Extinction of animal species, resulting from human impact on the ecosystem. About 52% of the global wildlife population of vertebrate species has died off since 1970 while human population has doubled during the same time and per capita ecological footprints have dramatically overshot the sustainable limits of growth. About one third of amphibian species worldwide are now threatened with extinction as their habitats are destroyed. As a wise frog once sang, "It’s not easy being Green."
