QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Human life deserves legal protection from conception until natural death.

Neutral

Dealing only in absolutes is dangerous. Remember the court case in Alabama that put IVF in danger until the state legislature corrected it through additional legislation? We the people need to come up with a solution regarding hot button topics such as abortion instead of relying on politicians as they tend to make things worse instead of better.

The lives of human embryos created through artificial methods ought to be protected from purposeful destruction.

Strongly Disagree

We should not be restricting the research of stem cells as they can be used to cure disease and improve our lives. Deriving stem cells is not a form of destruction but repurposing. If someone donates embryos and consents to allowing research from stem cells, the government should butt out!

Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?

That should be between the one who is pregnant and their healthcare provider, not nosy politicians wanting to impose their worldview upon others.

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Disagree

I oppose government subsidies in general and would prefer that individuals wanting to support such organizations donate to them instead.

The Comstock Act, which bans interstate transportation of abortion-inducing drugs, should be enforced.

Strongly Disagree

I am against the war on drugs in the first place, so I wouldn't support this law.

ECONOMY

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

We don't have free enterprise when idiotic tariffs are imposed upon imports from other countries.

People who can afford to pay more taxes should do so in order to provide relief for working families.

Strongly Disagree

The people shouldn't be taxed to death no matter their income or net worth (or lack thereof).

The government should cut spending in order to reduce the national debt.

Strongly Agree

I want to qualify this with a starting point. Unlike "DOGE," I am not wanting to go into a messy room, start rearranging things at random and wonder why a bunch of stuff falls on top of me. We need to start with ending the unconstitutional wars overseas and removing the apparatus that is being used to spy on everyday Americans and residents. Then focus on ending corporate subsidies instead of warring against the poor.

List your top 3-5 priorities to eliminate government waste.

1.) Prohibit gerrymandering by amending the Constitution to only allow states to redraw election maps after the official census by non-partisan commissions. 2.) Prohibit future U.S. Presidents from imposing any tariffs on any imports and only allow Congress to vote upon them, which would require another amendment to the Constitution. 3.) Push to end the war on drugs.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Neutral

Freedom of association is important. That said, if one is open to the public they need to be open to all of the public and not cherry-pick unless it is a private membership club of some sort. If a baker of cakes does not agree with certain marriages, they are just as easily able to not bake any wedding cakes at all for anyone instead of saying that only certain customers can have one.

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

We are not a theocracy. A religion embedded in a state is a form of authoritarianism that Libertarians oppose. We Libertarians oppose any form of authoritarianism. We the people should be free to exercise our beliefs (or lack thereof) so long as we are not violating the rights of others.

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.

C would be the closest, and I would emphasize that I wouldn't even focus on transitioning our way off such programs until corporate subsidies, the military industrial complex, and the spy apparatus come to an end.

The government should keep a database of people with various ongoing medical illnesses to assess the economic burden of treatment.

Strongly Disagree

Such databases are open to abuse and we shouldn't be deciding who lives and who dies in that regard.

NATIONAL SECURITY

With regard to America's foreign policy, which view most closely resembles yours: A) The United States should intervene whenever freedom is threatened. B) The United States should selectively help countries trying to grow democracy and fight tyranny. C) The United States has become too involved in others' policies and should remain focused on issues regarding our own sovereignty unless in imminent danger. D) The United States should stay out of foreign conflicts completely.

C would be the closest to my view on foreign policy. We should be able to talk to and trade with other countries. If there is a real threat, Congress should vote to declare war.

The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.

Strongly Disagree

We pose the greatest threat to ourselves, particularly when it comes to who we elect to public office.

Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?

We should be able to talk to and trade with Israel. Beyond that, we need to not be so entangled in their affairs as that could lead us into a compromising position. This is true of all other countries as well.

Islamic terrorism is a threat to the United States' national security.

Strongly Disagree

"Islamic terrorism," which came about as a result of interventionist foreign policy (Iran Contra, Cold War, etc) is not a true threat to national security for the same reason that Japan did not have a full-scale invasion during World War II. Our access to firearms, even now, would make such an endeavor foolhardy. The interventionism often creates such groups in the first place, so ending such mistakes would go a long way in ensuring that such groups never form ever again.

IMMIGRATION

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

Anyone as Libertarians believe in Freedom of Association and Freedom of Movement. So long as the individual is not causing problems, they should be free to travel into the U.S. Immigrants are the reason Social Security hasn't gone bankrupt as they are paying into that system while not being allowed to access those benefits until they become citizens.

I support the existence of sanctuary cities to protect undocumented persons.

Strongly Agree

We shouldn't be treating immigrants as criminals just for being here and existing. The majority of citizens, including the current sitting President of the United States, have family members who were immigrants themselves. They aren't taking jobs that most citizens desire (agricultural jobs in extremely hot regions among other hazardous occupations....... most do not want to work in such fields).

EDUCATION

I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.

Neutral

I am choosing Neutral because the Department of Education does not have that much control over K-12 education (states and local communities are responsible for that). That said, I would support phasing out grants and federal loans which would nullify the 90/10 rule (which has caused tuition rates to spike over the years). Beyond that, the other priorities mentioned earlier would have more focus than the Department of Education.

Foreign governments should be prohibited from funding American education.

Strongly Disagree

We shouldn't be telling governments how to spend money in the U.S. seeing as how we're talking about education as opposed to buying arms. Now if a war was declared against another country by Congress, that would be another story.

VALUES

Attempts to physically or socially transition a child to the opposite sex constitute child abuse.

Neutral

It is already illegal to medically change a minor's gender in half the country. Furthermore, I oppose forcing a change upon someone who doesn't want it. Rage baiting questions such as this do not help the conversation.

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.

Strongly Disagree

There is room to have a definition of marriage for tax purposes and a separate definition for spiritual purposes. If those in polyamorous relationships want to be married to each other, they should be allowed to do so while the government only allows a primary and joint filer for tax purposes. After all, we are not a theocracy.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I believe that I do not know the truth of the ultimate reality that we are actually occupying and will not know until we are dead.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Agree

We already do in many cases with voter registration cards, and it has worked just fine for a long time. The less centralized our information is, the better.

EQUALITY

Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.

Strongly Disagree

Such rules should be left up to the sports leagues and property owners, NOT the government. After all, what if the men's bathroom is closed due to problems with sinks and toilets? Does this mean the available restrooms are off limits even if a guy has to relieve their bladder? Intergender sports leagues also exist as well, so why impose such limits in the first place?

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?

Nuclear power would be the most reliable as innovation in that space has taken place. That said, I am not opposed to wind and solar supplementing things unlike the current sitting President.

ABOUT YOU

Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.

No.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.

No.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Choose not to answer

Libertarian, which doesn't fit into the prescribed boxes above.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Government has a responsibility to protect children from sexual exploitation during online activities.

Choose not to answer

I oppose sexual exploitation. That said, politicians use that as an excuse to spy on us and further restrict our rights. There are already laws against such things on the books. We do not need to expand the spy apparatus further than it already has been.

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

Being a legal adult and a citizen or permanent resident should be the main requirements. Those who served time in prison for crimes they committed should of course limit access (depending on the crime), but beyond that we should not be clamping down so hard on firearms access and ownership.
