OTHER INFORMATION

QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Agree

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.

Strongly Agree

I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.

Strongly Agree

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

Only as to protect the life of the mother!

ECONOMY

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.

Strongly Disagree

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

Actually this is a difficult question - I strongly agree that government spending should be reduced in order to balance the budget versus increasing revenues by tax hikes. It is extremely important a current analysis of existing spending is done in order to find key areas that would support larger cuts. My answer would be a combination of across the board cuts where everyone would face the same percentage of cuts plus areas where additional cuts must be made for additional reasons.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Agree

Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.

Agree

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

Strongly Agree

I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.

Yes

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

I believe there should be a philosophical and jurisprudentence concept for defining the relationship between the church and the state.

HEALTHCARE

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.

Strongly Disagree

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

Actually as a businessman I agree this is a difficult issue and we have not done a good job of controlling healthcare costs in this country. I believe strongly in the free market system so I am strongly against the federal take-over of the healthcare system. I believe the United States should not subsidized the rest of the world leading to much higher costs in this country. I believe in a free-market system with some controls and safety nets but they should be limited and individuals should not be able to take advantage of the system.

NATIONAL SECURITY

The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.

Strongly Agree

IMMIGRATION

I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

Strongly Agree

State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.

Strongly Agree

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

Those who follow the existing law should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. If they meet the criteria and follow the existing rules should be allowed to immigrate.

EDUCATION

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Strongly Disagree

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Strongly Agree

I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.

Strongly Disagree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I have always been a Catholic who believes in the teachings of the Bible and freedom of religion!

ABOUT YOU

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Conservative

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

Look at my voting record - since I have been an Ohio legislator, I have voted strongly for numerous bills that became law in Ohio that were anti-abortion legislation. The only bill I did not support was where I was asked by the Ohio Right to Life Association to vote against the one measure. I am a strong businessman and adhere to Republican principals - I do not support higher taxes. I support balanced budgets and strong conservative groups have awarded me with Watchdog of the Treasury Award, plus NFIB legislator of the year award.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

My credentials are excellent - 1) Ivy League education; 2) Successful businessman; 3) Experience as a County Commissioner, State Representative and now as the current State Senator; 4) Outstanding Chair of Insurance in the Ohio House and currently Chair of the Insurance and Banking Committee in the Senate - I have won a number of awards including the NAMIC award given to the top Insurance State Legislator in the Country.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

Yes - look at my credentials I do feel I am highly qualified. I have a history of trying to do the right thing and working with other legislators to achieve quality legislation. I do believe in term limits so this will be my last term .

JUDICIAL PHILOSOPHY

I support the use of Sharia law as a basis for legislation and judicial decisions in the United States.

Strongly Disagree

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.

Strongly Agree

2ND AMENDMENT

Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?

Yes

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

I strongly support the 2nd amendment - I support the Concealed Carry System in Ohio.

OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.

Strongly Disagree

The Electoral College should be abolished.

Strongly Disagree

In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?

Right now I feel the top priority is to get additional liability protection to both the public and private sectors during this pandemic crisis. How can we expect businesses to reopen to maintain a decent economy without additional protection. Next I am working strongly to get a bill passed in Ohio that protects consumers from getting a "surprise healthcare billing". We are very close to getting this legislation passed that would protect consumers and both the providers and the insurance plans support a solution. The final area of legislation I will propose is developing a budget that not only is balanced but avoids the unnecessary tax hikes that would drive jobs out of Ohio and seriously hurt Ohio's economy in the long run.

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

It is not as a great a threat as is being proposed by many people. If I was a minority maybe I would understand better, but solutions like defunding the police make absolutely no sense. I agree with my friends who are in the minority for years and they thought this was a generation solution in that as new generations came upon us there was less racism in America. Now they feel times have changed and new policies will be be put in place that will speed up this process tremendously. I have always thought that education was the key to abolishing racism in the Country.
