QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?

To protect the life of the mother.

Chemical abortion drugs should meet essential safety standards (such as in-person consultation with a medical doctor) and require reporting to gather evidence on reactions and outcomes.

Choose not to answer

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Choose not to answer

I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.

ECONOMY

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Choose not to answer

What is your position on the minimum wage?

Government mandates on income have the unintended consequences of fewer jobs and higher prices in exchange for higher wages that merely redistribute income. The optimal way to produce a strong economy is to reduce taxes and regulations on employers.

Should environmental and social issues, like ESG (environmental, social, and governance) ratings, be used as criteria in deciding where to invest public monies?

Choose not to answer

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Under what circumstances can government close churches?

None. The First Amendment to the Constitution clearly states, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof."

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.

My position falls between options B and C. For example, I believe military personnel and veterans should have the option of taxpayer-funded health care programs. Overall, I believe that citizens should have greater control over their health care expenditures, and we must strengthen the doctor-patient relationship. I support efforts to expand and strengthen Health Savings Accounts, allowing more Americans to obtain affordable health care by using tax-free dollars.

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

As a matter of public policy, I am generally opposed to such mandates. As a military member for over 22 years, however, I personally have been required to receive vaccinations on a routine basis in order to comply with regulations.

NATIONAL SECURITY

The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.

Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?

The long-standing relationship between the United States and Israel is vital to the security and prosperity of both countries. As the only democracy in the Middle East, Israel remains our nation's strongest partner in what is arguably the world's most volatile region. It is incumbent upon our leaders to maintain support for this essential bilateral relationship that has wide ranging security and economic implications.

IMMIGRATION

The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.

EDUCATION

The state should fund education by allowing dollars to follow the child through programs which protect parents' freedom to choose their child's school – public, private, or homeschool.

VALUES

Children are the most vulnerable members of society and must be protected from abuse, including gender ideology, grooming, and bodily mutilation.

Parents should have the right to make decisions for their minor children.

Taxpayer funds should be used to provide gender transition services.

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a born-again Christian saved by faith alone through grace alone. A key verse of Scripture that God used to effect my conversion is 2 Corinthians 5:21.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Choose not to answer

States should join the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact which makes the Electoral College irrelevant.

EQUALITY

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

There is no question that racism exists in the United States, but it is not a domestic security threat. The best way we can fight any such pernicious beliefs is not to institutionalize discrimination. We must treat each individual as a beloved child of God, uniquely created in His image. The Declaration of Independence elegantly sums up the American ideal on this matter: the self-evident truth that God creates each person as equal and endows him or her with unalienable rights.

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Which comes closest to your view? (Select all that apply) A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost. C) Stricter environmental laws undermine U.S. energy independence and deter development of reliable electricity sources. D) Climate change is real and requires urgent policy action.

Energy is a vitally important policy issue with national security and economic implications. The U.S. must advance a comprehensive, sustainable energy policy that employs our nation's diverse resources and serves as a mechanism to create new jobs for Americans - all while carrying out our obligation to steward the environment.

What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?

I support an all-of-the-above energy policy that expands the use of domestic resources and maintains safeguards to protect Ohio's residents and natural resources, ensuring the state’s energy extraction is performed in a safe and responsible manner.

ABOUT YOU

Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.

No.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.

No.

What do you think is the general purpose of government?

The Founders established the United States on the premise that civil society is built on a set of moral principles, which is maintained through a system of ordered liberty. The primary purpose of government, therefore, to protect the rights of citizens. Social institutions, such families, churches, and local associations, should play the primary role in solving societal problems, while government, particularly at the federal level, should have a considerably more limited role.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
