That's why we’re making the right to abortion a permanent fixture in the Nevada constitution.

In 2024, Nevada voters approved Question 6 to amend the Nevada Constitution and permanently protect the right to abortion. Question 6 will appear again on the 2026 ballot.

“Decisions about abortion should be left to women and qualified healthcare professionals, who take a pledge to act in their patients’ best interest. When it comes to something as personal and complicated as pregnancy, politicians are never more qualified to make healthcare decisions than women and their doctors. That’s why it is so important to vote YES on this amendment.  

People across Nevada are voting YES because:

• YES protects doctors so that they will never have to risk jail time just to treat the patient in front of them.
• Extreme abortion bans are already in place across the country – from Texas to Florida to right next door in Utah and Arizona – and they are having dangerous effects. A 10-year-old girl from Ohio who was raped had to travel to Indiana to get the abortion she needed, and in Texas, one woman who miscarried lost liters of blood and had to go on a breathing machine before doctors could legally help her. YES protects the right to abortion in our state for good, so these tragic stories can never happen here. 
• YES establishes a permanent layer of protection so that no matter who holds office in our state, extreme abortion bans cannot become law in Nevada.
• YES keeps families – not politicians – in charge of their own healthcare decisions, so that women can make these personal decisions in consultation with their doctors and those they love and trust." - Ballot Question Committee in Support

“Question 6 is a proposed amendment to the Nevada Constitution that would establish an unlimited right to abortion performed by non-doctors in unregulated clinics throughout all nine months of pregnancy – even when the heartbeat of the pre-born child is detected, when the pre-born child can experience pain, and when the child is capable of living outside the womb. 

Parents should be involved in all medical decisions of their minor children. Question 6 will permanently remove parental involvement before an abortion is performed on a child, at a moment when she needs her mom and dad most. Secret abortions protect predators and sex traffickers allowing them to destroy the evidence and return their victims to abuse. 

Right now, Nevada requires licensed physicians, doctors, to perform abortions. Question 6 replaces this requirement with “healthcare practitioners” defined in NRS as nurses (even school nurses), dentists, opticians, pharmacy techs, and more. Abortion is not without risk. Women deserve doctors, not practitioners. Question 6 removes the state’s ability to regulate, or even inspect, abortion facilities for health, safety and sanitation standards, leaving nail salons and veterinary clinics safer than abortion clinics. 

Nevada already allows abortion up to 6 months for any reason. Only a vote of the people can change this. Question 6 legalizes 7th, 8th, and even 9th month abortions on healthy moms with healthy babies. 

Question 6 protects predators who force women and girls into unwanted abortions.” - No On 6 

We urge you to vote NO on this dangerous initiative that threatens the dignity, safety and rights of women, children, and families for many reasons; among them:

• It dangerously expands abortion rights. Abortion, already legal in Nevada up to 24 weeks of pregnancy, would now be permitted to the 9th month of pregnancy, to full term. 
• It ratifies removal of parental notification and family involvement from abortion decisions made by minor children. Parental consent is required to give a student a Tylenol; yet this initiative would allow a minor to obtain an abortion without a parent even knowing.
• It is dangerous for women and young girls. Question 6 would replace the ‘licensed physician’ requirement for abortion with ‘health care practitioner,’ a term that includes nurses, dentists, opticians, and medical laboratory technicians (NRS439A.0195) AND severely threatens the state’s ability to regulate abortion clinics for basic health, safety, and sanitary conditions." - Nevada Catholic Conference

“This November, voters will decide the final fate of question six, a proposed constitutional amendment that would permanently change abortion policy in our state.  

If it passes, it would lock unregulated unlimited abortion into Nevada's constitution and remove many, if not all, of the safeguards that currently protect pre-born babies, young girls, and women.  

If question six passes, parental notification laws will fall. That means a minor girl could be taken for a secret abortion without her parents ever knowing. No phone call, no consent, no chance for a loving mom or dad to step in and protect her when she needs them most.  

The amendment eliminates basic health and safety standards. Women deserve doctors. Women deserve regulated medical facilities that are sanitary and safe. Women deserve facts, not slogans.  

Question six will threaten almost born babies who could live outside the womb. Current Nevada law allows abortion up to the sixth month of pregnancy. Question six erases that line, allowing abortion up until birth on healthy moms with healthy babies.” - Nevada Right to Life
